Bathwater                          (February 2002)

Time, like bathwater to a drain,
flows around me and then away;
alone, left behind and naked,
I sit, shivering and stunned.
The entire world is just behind
that flimsy wooden door, and I
am unsure of whether it wants
to devour or ignore me.
