| Machineguns: The Lowell Machinegun An American invention and a very modern looking weapon too. The Lowell was a four barrelled weapon cranked in a similiar fashion to the Nordenfeldt, the barrels did not revolve during firing but were manually turned during reloading to allow a new, cool barrel to be used. There are very few details on this weapon about and these statistics have been extrapolated. A lightweight Gatling in .45 calibre with a drum case protecting the revolving barrels. The weapon is mounted on a tripod and compared to previous Gatling weapons is very light in weight. James G. Eccles designed the positive feed drum magazine often seen on Gatling weapons after our time period but PC inventors can beat him to the punch. Anti Jamming Device Precision Machinery (17,4) If a jam occurs on a weapon which utilises this invention the devices reliability is rolled to see if the device avoids the jam. When first invented the inventor must state which type of weapon (Gatling, Gardner etc) the device is designed for, each new weapon type requires another Invention Roll to adapt the device for the new weapon. Electric Machinegun Mr Gatling connected one of his weapons to an electric motor and delivered a rate of fire of 3000/minute, an improvement over the standard 600/minute. This achievement was not used for 70 years due to the difficulty in fielding a reliable electric motor and power source on the battlefield. Of course, a "Vulcan Gun" is going to blow the game balance straight into the weeds so it's up to the GM if he wants PC cloudships with Gatlings with a ROF of 10/30. |
