| Weapons Modification and Updates by Tech Level Given that through the ages the battle between Arms and Armour has been one of the primary motivating factors behind the advance of technology, I thought I'd present my views on some of the advances on existing weapons and armour technologies. |

This applies only to pre TL 10 slugthrowers excepting Handguns. At TL 11, multiply ammo weight by 0.5 or double ammo capacity as caseless or plastic cased rounds are introduced, this applies only to pre TL 10 Slugthrowers (including handguns) At TL 12, all weapons should be constructed with a robust and integral Electronic Sight unless otherwise specified at time of purchase. Add 0.5 to the volume of the weapon and increase the price by 1000Cr. New Shotgun rounds Here are some new shotgun rounds: Name Pen/Atten Dam DS HE 2/- 4 1.5 HEAP 7/- 4 1.5 Flechette 2/3 4 1.5 Configurable Weapons Systems Some weapon systems share common componants, it makes sense for manufacturers to sell all the componants as a kit so the user can customise the weapon for the percieved task at hand. Reconfiguring these weapons is a task: Task: To reconfigure a configurable weapon system. Simple, Mechanical, Int, 30 seconds (Uncertain, Unskilled OK) Some examples of such systems are: 7mm Slugthrower system A configurable system that allows the user to build up either a 7mm Carbine, 7mm Rifle, 7mm magazine-fed Autorifle or 7mm belt-fed Autorifle from a common bullpup action. All statistics for the weapon remain unchanged depending on the tech level at which the system is produced. The total weight of the system is 13.5kg, total volume is 8.0l and the total cost is 1700cr 9mm Slugthrower system A similiar system buit around the 9mm pistol action, the weapons buildable from the system are limited to the 9mm Autopistol and the 9mm SMG. The burst capability is not present in the pistol form, as the recoil on the light frame makes the weapon uncontrollable. The total weight for the system is 2.6kg, the total volume is 2.6l and the total cost is 1000cr. 10mm Slugthrower system A configurable system built around the 10mm Snub action, this versatile system includes the rarely seen 10mm Snub SMG which has the following characteristics: Snub SMG (10mm), Length: 2.0, Vol: 2.0, Unloaded Weight: 2.0, Cr 1500 Rounds: 30, Max. Range: Long, Autofire Targets: 3, Signature: Med, Recoil: Med/R. The total weight for the configurable system is 1.9kg, the total volume is 1.9l and the total cost is 3100cr. The final system is not a slugthrower at all: Configurable Energy Weapon System (CEWS) The basic weapon system is defined by the length of the lasing reflector tube which is always the length of the laser wavelength, the rest of the weapon consists of the cooling system, focussing array and other systems which combine to determine the power of the weapon. The user can use smaller componants to make a handier weapon that does not have the penetrating power of the heavier configurations. The weapons in this system are the Laser 'Rifle', Laser Carbine and Laser Pistol. A nonstandard laser rifle power pack is used that for rules purposes has 1000 'Energy Points', the different configurations draw different amounts of energy points: Rifle configuration: 5 EP/shot. Carbine configuration: 4 EP/shot. Pistol configuration: 3 EP/shot. Because of variations at each tech level, the total weight of the sytem is the combined weight of all the componant weapons x0.8, the total volume of the systems is the combined volume of all the componant weapons x 0.8 and the total cost of the system is the combined cost of all the componant weapons x 1.5. Composite Armour : Flexible armour with rigid section of cerametal, plastic or composite materials such as carbon fibre, arms and thighs are generally left flexible with most other sections rigid. Hardshell Armour : Interlocking plates of rigid material backed up with ballistic cloth, sealed and connected to serve as a pressure suit. Power Augmented Armour : Hardshell armour with an integral powered exo-skeletal structure |
