June didn't answer so Jim walked over to her and put his hands on her shoulder and slowly rubbed them. ��Hey, are you alright?�� He whispered
June swivelled in her chair to face him and he was saddened by what he saw, there were tears flowing down her cheeks. ��Oh Jim�� she said as she rested her head in her hands. ��June, come with me.�� He said as he helped her up.
He led her into the small interview room, as he closed the door he could hear her sobbing. ��Oh Jim hold me please hold me.�� She cried. He moved closer and took her into his arms. ��Why are all my friends dying Jim? Perhaps it's me.��
��Don't be silly.��
��First Derek then Andrew and the others and now Cass, it's not fair
Jim, it's not fair.��
��I know,�� Jim replied holding her tight.
As June sobbed, Gina walked in. ��Oh sorry, didn't realise you had had a row, but if you must make up can you keep it to the privacy of your own home please because we don't want to see it.�� Gina said.
��Oh can't you just mind your own business.�� June shouted.
��June, Ma��am I am sorry that June is upset.��
��We are all upset Jim but we are not all sobbing in a corner.��
��Have you lost several friends this year, no I didn't think so, so just leave it.�� June cried.
��I think you had better take some leave to sort yourself out.�� Gina said.
��You are a mess; you are supposed to be trying to hold everything together to help the younger members of the force. Go home June.��
��Yeah come on I will drive you.�� Jim smiled.
��Oh no you won't, I am already losing one member of staff from CSU I can't afford to lose another one.��
��I will only be ten minutes at the most.��
��No.�� Gina replied sternly.
��It's alright Jim,�� June said wiping her eyes. ��I will be alright, I need the walk to clear my head.��
June turned to face Jim and slid her hand up to his face. ��I will see you later.�� She whispered.
��Ok, be careful,�� he replied. June reached up and kissed him lightly on the lips and then the kiss turned more passionate.
��Oh please.�� Gina said with disgust.
��Well you don't have to watch.�� June replied as she kissed him again.
As they broke apart June whispered I love you and then she walked out.
��Right well now she's gone perhaps you will get some work done.�� Gina smiled.
��Yes ma��am.��
��Right well I have a suspected racial attack for you on a 14 year old boy.��
��Ok.��
Gina left Jim to get started on the case, while June made her way home.
June decided to walk along the canal on the way home. She made her way to a bench, sat down and closed her eyes. She started thinking about all the good times she has had at sun hill, there had been many but over the last year she was struggling to think of a few. As she sat there she could sense someone behind her but before she could turn around, who ever it was blind folded and gagged her. She struggled and tried to free herself but the person was too strong.
��Stop struggling you are not going anywhere, PC Rickman tried to struggle and it didn't get her anywhere now did it.�� A male voice said.
The man carried her to the car and drove off.
Meanwhile back at sun hill Jim had just finished interviewing the little boy, he sat at his desk and picked up the phone. He dialled the house to see if June was back but there was no answer, so he went to dial her mobile number however Cathy ranting and raving with Phil Hunter interrupted him; he replaced the handset and went to see what was happening.
June meanwhile was being driven to a lock up on one of the estates.
Terrified about what was going to happen to her, she felt a sudden thud. The car stopped and the man got out, opened the back door and dragged her to her feet. ��Scared Sgt Auckland because you should be. Sit over there.�� He shouted as he pushed her into a corner, as she landed she cut her head on a piece of wood. ��Right then I am going to be nice now June, I am going to take away the gag but only if you promise not to shout, do you promise?��
June nodded.
��Ok I am glad we understand each other.�� He said as he removed the gag.
��What do you want?�� June sobbed.
��I thought that would be obvious I want you and now I have you.��
��Why me, I am not the normal type you go for?�� June asked.
��I thought I would try something different,�� he said as he put his hand on her cheek.
��The station will notice I'm not there, they will have police searching the area.��
��No they won't and that's the funny thing because they think they have caught the serial killer so they won't be looking for no one.�� He replied smugly
��What are you going to do, kill me? If so just do it get it out of the way.�� June shouted
��Now, now June don't get impatient, I want to have some fun first.�� He said kissing her
June tried to pull away but he was holding her to tight. ��They will be wondering where I am.�� She protested
��No they won't because you are going to ring in and tell them you won't be in today.��
��What?�� She cried.
��You heard, now I am being really kind to you don't disappoint me, I don't want any funny business.��
��Ok.�� She replied taking the phone off him. She dialled CSU.
��Hello CSU Cathy Bradford speaking.��
��Cathy it��s June.�� June said trying to hold back the tears. ��Can I speak to Jim please?��
��What are you playing at?�� The man shouted.
��Sarge are you alright?��
��Can you just get Jim please?��
��Tell her what's going on, who's this Jim?�� He said as he grabbed her arm.��Argh.��
��Sarge?��
��Cathy just get Jim,�� she cried ��please.��
��Ok.�� Cathy said, ��Jim, June's on the phone.��
Jim came to the phone, ��June, oh I am glad to hear from you I was starting to get worried when you didn't answer the phone in the house.��
��Jim listen I won't be in today.��
��June what are you talking about, I know you won't Gina sent you home.
June are you alright? Where are you?��
��Don't answer that.�� The man said.
��June who's that? June what's going on?�� Jim said eagerly.
��Jim, remember what ever happens I love you.��
��June, you are scaring me now.��
��So that's why you wanted to speak to him, he's your lover, give me the phone you have said enough, I told you to behave yourself.��
��June!�� Jim shouted
��Look June won't be coming in today or any other day in I can help it.��
The man said before hanging up.
��June!�� Jim screamed, he slammed the phone down and ran out of CSU.
Maam, maam something has happened to June, some man has got her'
'Calm down Jim and start again'
'June just rang CSU and she was acting strange'
'Nothing new there then'
'This is serious, at the end of the conversation a man came on the line and said she wouldn't be in today or any other day if he could help it'
'Did you recognise the voice?'
'No' Jim replied
'We had better let CID know'
Gina and Jim ran up to Jack's office, they explained everything and within five minutes they had everyone in the briefing room. 'Right we believe that Sgt Ackland has been kidnapped' Jack said
'What?' Tony replied
'Right I know this is a difficult time for us all at the moment but one of our most loved officers is out there in possible danger somewhere, we all need to be sharp and on the ball. We have already lost one officer this month lets not loose another'
'Any leads sir?' Gary asked
'No all we know is that he is male, I suppose we will have to wait and see what he wants'
'What!' Jim shouted 'Wait, we can't all sit around here waiting for that low life to contact us, we have get out there and look for them'
'Jim I know this must be hard but we will do everything we can to find June' Jack replied
'Do you think it could be the serial killer? Perhaps we have charged the wrong man' Robbie said
'No we have the right man I am sure of it anyway the serial killer goes after young women' Sam added
'And Sgt Ackland isn't one of them' Phil sniggered'What did you say?' Jim shouted as he grabbed hold of Phil 'Don't ever talk about June like that again'
'Jim leave it' Tony said as he pulled Jim off Phil.
Jim stormed out of the briefing room and went outside for some fresh air. Tony followed him 'Come on Jim fighting isn't going to help' Tony said
Jim wiped away the tears running down his face ' I love her so much Tony, so much it hurts, if anything has happened to her I will kill the person responsible I really will'
'Jim pull yourself together, you have to be strong for June'
'I know'
Meanwhile back at the lock up the man was pacing up and down. 'You may as well give yourself up now, you have basically told them you have me, they will all be looking for you'
'No they won't find me for ages, I think we will have some fun first' the man laughed
'What do you mean?' June asked
'I am going to get a letter sent to sun hill telling them exactly what I will be doing to you'
'Which is murdering me?'
'Not yet that would be to easy no I want to have some pleasure out of you first'
June knew exactly what he meant and it made her feel sick.
The serial killer wrote the letter�� 'this should get them all flapping especially Jim'
'Please don't bring Jim into this'
'Oh it wouldn't be fun without telling him what I will be doing with his lover'
June started to sob again. A man entered the lock up took the letter and drove off on what sounded like a motorbike.
The next day
'It has nearly been 24 hours now and we have no leads' Gina said
'I know' Jack replied shaking his head
Their conversation was interrupted by Robbie Cryer ' Sorry sir but this just arrived the man said it was urgent'
Jack opened the letter and read it; his facial expression said it all. The letter made him feel sick 'what does it say Jack?' Gina asked
Jack read the letter
Dear Sun hill Coppers,
You are making this too easy for me you know, I have another of yours now but this time its different. I am getting bored of just killing these women; I want to have some pleasure from them too. Your Sgt Ackland is a good-looking woman you know for her age and she's not a bad kisser either, I can't wait to find out what she's like in bed! 'Oh god' Gina whispered
'It's signed SK, It looks like Robbie was right, we have charged the wrong man, shit' Jack shouted
'We will have to call a briefing' Gina replied
'Yes'
'What do we tell Jim'?
'I don't think we have any choice but to show him'
10 minutes later
Everyone is in the briefing room and Jack reads out the letter.
Gina watched Jim's reaction, his face turned a purple colour. ' What? If he lays a finger on her I will��'
'Jim!' Jack said
'We have to find her?' Tony added
'I know'
'How are we going to face the press' Sam said
'We have got the wrong bloody person in those cells, everyone was so certain it was him and now the real serial killer has my June and he is torturing her and all you are worried about is how are you going to face the press'
Jim cried ' Have you ever loved anyone DI Nixon, have you ever loved someone so much that it hurts? Well have you?'
'No'
'No I didn't think so because if you had there would be no way you would be standing there worrying about your bloody reputation'
'That's enough Jim' Tony said grabbing his hand
'Get off me'
At that moment Reg burst into the briefing room, 'Sorry sir but we have just had a report of a woman calling for help from the lock ups on the lock mead estate'
��Thanks Reg, I want Kerry, Luke, Tony and Des to attend, take a look around. Gina, Sam and myself will follow you down there. If this is where they are I want you to be extremely careful any sudden movements could frighten him'
'Ok Sir'
'I am coming too' Jim said
'I think it would be best if you stay here Jim' Gina replied
'No way, if June is down there I want to be there. You stopped me taking her home earlier on, you are not stopping me going down there now. This might never have happened if you had let me take her home in the first place.
'Jim not now' Tony said as they all left the briefing room.
Meanwhile at the lock up the serial killer had tied June to the floor
'There you can't move anywhere now, you just lie back and enjoy. He lay on top of her, he kissed her hard and he moved his hands up and down her body.
June tried to stop him but she was helpless. 'Please don't' she cried
'Oh come on June you love it' he said as he slowly moved his hand up her skirt and removed her tights. 'No get off please' she shouted
He silenced her by kissing her on the lips; he then untied her one hand and moved it to the zip of his trousers 'Un do them go on'
'No'
'Go on undo them' he said forcing her hand to undo the zip and release him.
He once again slid his hand underneath her skirt, she screamed for help.
Kerry heard a scream ' Sir the scream came from in there' Kerry said pointing to a red door
Jim run over to them 'Help, get off me' June shouted
'June!' Jim screamed
'Jim stay back' Jack ordered but it was too late Jim had ran over to the door
'June!' He shouted again
'Jim' she sobbed 'Help me!'
Jim burst through the door and saw the serial killer on top of June trying to remove her underwear 'Get off her' Jim shouted as he ran over to the serial killer and grabbed him. He pushed him off June and they were fighting on the floor.
Outside the look up Jack had ordered them all to wait for back up ' This is ridiculous, we should be in there with Jim' Kerry said
'It's not safe' Gina added
Meanwhile inside the lock up Jim was still fighting with the serial killer.
Jim manages to knock him out with a punch. He gets up and unties June
'Oh June are you alright' Jim said
'Jim' June sobbed as she grabbed hold of him tightly
'Everything is going to be alright now, I am never going to let you go through anything like this again, when I heard what he was doing to you
I just wanted to kill him'
June just sobbed into his shoulder. He slowly helped her up onto her feet and she made her self look decent. 'Jim you won't leave me will you'
'Of course not, I am never going to leave you, I love you' Jim said as he kissed her lightly. He then held her tightly for a few seconds before June shouted 'Jim watch out'
The serial killer had managed to get to his feet; he picked up a piece of wood and hit Jim on the head. Jim fell to the floor, with his head bleeding
'Jim' June screamed
Jack heard all the screaming 'Come on sir they need us' Tony said
'Ok go, go, go' Jack ordered
Everyone charged in and found Jim on the floor with blood by his head.
June was by his side and the serial killer was next to her. Sam ran over and arrested the serial killer while Jack radioed for an ambulance.
'June are you alright?' Jack asked'Why the hell didn't you all come in sooner?' she cried
'June are you alright?' Tony asked
'No I am not, I have nearly been sexually assaulted, I have been locked and tied up in here for over 24 hours and now Jim is unconscious because of me so no I am not bloody alright' June sobbed
'Come on Jim will be alright, lets get you sorted' Tony said
'I am not leaving him'
'June, you need to be seen by a doctor, lets sort you out and then you can see Jim. Tony will go with you to the hospital' Jack said
June kissed Jim's forehead and reluctantly went with Tony. Jim was taken in an ambulance to the hospital.
June sat next to Jim's bed willing him to wake up 'Jim don't you give up on me, I love you'
Tony entered the room 'How are you doing?'
'I would be fine if Jim would just wake up'
'He really loves you, you know. I didn't realise how much until this happened. I have seen Jim in some panics in my time but I have never seen him like he was over the last 24 hours. He was sobbing to me, he would do anything for you'
'And I would do anything for him. While I was in there all I could think about was Jim, I just wanted him to be there. I don't know what I would do if anything happened to him' June cried
'Nothing will happen to him, he is strong June, and he will pull through'
'I hope so' she said rubbing Jims hand
'Sam wants you to make a statement'
'Well it will have to wait'
'Yes of course. How is your head?' Tony asked
'It needed a few stitches but it's alright'
'You must be shaken up though by what he did to you'
'I don't want to talk about it, I just want to block it out'
'Well you can't June you have to face up to this'
'I don't have to face up to nothing now just leave Tone' June said sharply. Tony decided that was his cue to leave so he did so. June rested her head on the bed next to Jims body and all of a sudden she could feel Jims hand moving through her hair. 'Jim, oh thank god' June beamed
'June'
'Jim everything is going to be alright' June smiled as she kissed him lightly.
2 weeks later
Jim was out of hospital and it was his and June's first day back at work. He was pleased to get the all clear to return to work because he was starting to get bored at home, although he did enjoy all the time he and June had to themselves. Their first day back was busy but June kept an eye on him to make sure he wasn't over doing it and he was doing the same with her. At the end of the shift everyone decided to go out to celebrate June and Jim returning to work. Everyone was having a brilliant time even Gina Gold. Jim walked up to the Jukebox and put Whitney Houston ' I will always love you' on.
He returned to the table and asked June to dance with him. The two of them danced together and at the end of the song June put her hands on Jims face
'Jim I love you' she smiled as her lips touched his slowly and gently enjoying every minute.
'They make such a lovely couple don't they' Robbie said
'Yes' Kerry replied
The music stopped and Jim and June broke apart. June went to sit down but Jim stopped her by taking hold of her hand 'Jim what are you doing?' she asked
All eyes were on Jim 'Jim everyone's staring'
'Good' Jim said as he got down on one knee and reached into his pocket to pull out a small box 'As you all know I love June with all my heart and these last 3 weeks have made my feelings stronger than ever. June I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I have waited years to find the right woman, why I didn't realise she was right under my nose all the time I will never know, but I have found you now. June will you marry me?' Jim said showing her the ring
'Oh she's got to say yes surely' Robbie said
June smiled and then a tear ran down her cheek 'Yes, yes I will'
Jim smiled and placed the beautiful ring on her finger. He stood up and hugged her 'Thank you' he beamed
She looked at him and kissed him again 'No thank you Jim, for making me the happiest woman in the world'
'Right well I think that calls for a toast' Jack said 'so could you all raise your glasses please, to Jim and June'
'To Jim and June' everyone replied
Jim and June smiled and held each other, both thinking about how happy they both were
