Live your Dream
You may kiss the bride said the registrar
Jim turned to June and smiled as they moved closer and kissed softly
I love you Mrs Carver Jim said as he held her close to him And I am never letting you go

He trailed a line of kisses down her body as it shook gently in his arms, both breathing rapidly, trying to bring their bodies back from the high they had just reached. She traced a line down his cheek with her finger, their eyes met and locked together, he took her hand and traced the outline of the band of gold on her left hand...

......Beep beep
Jim reached out and turned the alarm off, rubbing his face as he caught a glimpse of gold around his finger, just visible in the darkness. He looked at his sleeping wife, the realisation hitting him, as it did every time he woke, the realisation that the only place his life was perfect was in his dreams.
Only he should not be dreaming of this perfect life, he should be living it, not this nightmare to a woman whom he hardly knew, he loved to be with her as she was exciting and fun but he did not love her with his heart, that belonged to someone else. He got out of bed, wondering how much longer he could keep up this act.

Jim sat down next to Des in the canteen
You alright mate? asked Des as he tucked into his lunch How is the wife?
Shes fine Jim replied as his eyes fell to June, who was sitting at the next table with Gina and Smithy. The sight of June laughing made him smile, they way in which her face illuminated as she did so, that slightly mischievous glint appearing in her eyes. Each time he heard this laugh he was reminded of the good times, the time his dream was a reality before he ruined it all.
Jim realised he was staring and was about to look away when he realised that June was looking at him too, her eyes smiling at him, as they both felt a stirring of their emotions inside their brains.
June broke the contact when Gina asked her a question, Jims smile faltered
Could you be anymore obvious Des had witnessed the exchange between Jim and June Its looking at June like that could get you into trouble with the wife... or are you already up to something that will get you into trouble?
You would not understand Des
Try me, wanna go somewhere and talk?

Des shut the area car door Whats been going on mate, you have got a face like a wet weekend in Blackpool, the only time you have a smile on your face is when the Sarge is around, you cant take your eyes off her, you are like a love sick teenager
What have I done Des, I have made a huge mistake, I cannot get June out of my mind, she is the first person I think of when I wake, I spend every minute thinking about her and when I go to sleep I dream about her... it is like before we got together, only its worse I know what I am missing and it is killing me
How does June feel about you, I mean is there a chance that she feels this way too?
I dont know now, she did, she told me she did when we were in the cellar
What else happened down there? Something must have, dont say nothing happened especially after what I just witnessed in there
We... we nearly kissed if Mickey had not come in when he did we would have, then I would have had the courage not to marry Marie and told June that I love her and had been stupid and it was her that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with
You have to sort things out Jim, you have only been married for two months and you should be happy with your wife, not hankering after your ex-girlfriend
I love being with Marie but it is June I love with all my heart, I love everything about her the love I have for her runs through my whole body and it is so strong it hurts
But Jim are you in love with Marie
I dont know Des, I really dont know anymore
You have to sort this out Jim, only you can make the decision, stop hoping that June with give you the chance to be able to walk away, you were the one that got married not her, any changes have got to come from you not her, this has to be sorted, its not fair on June, its not fair on you and it is certainly not fair on Marie

June stretched her arms out above her head as she sighed
You finished those reports then
June turned round in her chair and smiled at Jim Indeed and it is only 5:30, roll on seven, how are you doing?
Nearly there, its like the old days, you and me the only ones here after 5'
Yes but nine times out of 10 you were sitting waiting for me, you have no excuses now, where I am...
A workaholic replied Jim as June laughed
Thanks a bunch, with friends like you who needs enemies
My pleasure Sarge... you are so beautiful when you laugh
Please dont do this Jim she turned away from him We agreed
He walked over to her desk, turning her chair round to face her
I love you June, I love you so much that it hurts, it is eating me up inside, I cant stop thinking about you
This is not fair Jim, you know how I still feel about you and you are playing with my mind, you were the one who got married not me, if you realise you have made a mistake then it is your problem not mine
I know it is my problem June, but you are the problem, I think about you every minute of the day, I even dream of you when I am asleep
Its all too late Jim, you should have said this all two months ago, I gave you the chance when we were in the cellar, you had the chance to tell me you loved me, but you just told me how wonderful Marie was, so dont do this to me not now June got up to walk away and Jim grabbed hold of her arm
Let go of me she screamed, tears streaming down her face
No, I need to tell you this, I need you to listen to me, Im not letting you go until I have done this

He pulled her into him and kissed her passionately, she went to pull away from him until letting her instincts take over her body and kissed him back. They let their hands explore each others bodies, re-familiarizing their selves with the bodies they had both missed and ached for.
He pushed her against the wall as he dropped to the floor and began to roll her skirt up over her thighs, kissing the skin he exposed as he did so, smiling against her as her heard low moans of pleasure escaping from her mouth, he kissed his way up her body. He kissed her nose as her hands pulled at his jeans, undoing them quickly as he pulled at her underwear.
Their eyes met and he pulled her close into him as he entered her, the groaned together as she wrapped her legs around him tightly
I love you June, please believe me
She lent in and kissed him, before throwing her head back as their pace increased.

She straightened her clothing and walked over to her desk
I am going to tell Marie that it is over Jim did up his trousers and walked over to June, wrapping his arms around her I cant keep fooling myself, it is not fair on me, you or Marie
That is a decision that only you can make Jim, you know where I am when you decide what the next step is, all I will say is that I love you and I am here for you when you are ready
Can I come round later, I want to be with you tonight, is that all right?
Of course
Jim kissed her Right I am going to do this, then I will be round and we can talk about us

Busy day? Marie asked as Jim sat down on the sofa
Not really... um we need to talk
Whats wrong love Marie sat next to him You have been in a strange mood for weeks?
Im sorry Marie, but it is over, I am leaving tonight
What? Why? Its her isnt it, youre leaving me for her, she has poisoned you against me
I made a mistake, I should never have gone through with the wedding, I care for you
But you dont love me do you? Why did you marry me?
I was confused, June and I had been through some problems, she had proposed to me a few weeks earlier before we split up and it panicked me, I started to drink and June found me in the pub and because she told me she loved me whatever I did, even if I fell of the wagon and I proposed to her. She accepted but then the next day I realised that I could not put her through that, make her unhappy and ruin her life, so I finished with her... Then I met you and rather than confronting my problems I decided to block them out, you made that easy, but the feelings I had for June, that I still have for June just continue to resurface and I cannot fight them they are that strong, I thought this would make me happy, but it isnt
How long have you been cheating on me with that ageing slapper?
I havent been, please dont call June that
I dont believe you
Nothing happened I promise you... well not until this evening
You lying bastard she slapped him round the face
I am not lying Marie, I am sorry it came to this

June stood at the stove stirring Pasta; she smiled as he wrapped his arms around her waistI keep thinking that I am still dreaming and am going to wake up
Well I hate to ruin things but, your problems are just beginning, you have just left your wife and part of that reason is that you and I made love this afternoon
And several more times since then he kissed her neck.
Indeed she turned round to him Im being serious, Marie is not going to take this lying down Jim
I know I will go see a solicitor
You are going to have to admit to adultery before Marie brings it up
June I am not going to deny it, I love you and I want to end this nightmare and be with you
Well you cannot deny anything if you are living here... that is if you are staying?
If you will have me, Im not going anywherewell not till Monday morning when we go to work

Ill wait here for a bit June said as she parked the car
No we will walk into together, no one will think anything of it will they
True, what will you do if someone notices your ring is missing
No one will say anything will they?
They got out of the car and walked across the yard, Des had been there as Junes car had entered the car and had witnessed their exchange; he noticed how at ease Jim had looked as they walked towards them
Alright Des? Jim asked with a beaming smile
Yeah and I would say you are by the size of that grin, you made a decision then, Im happy for you, just dont bugger things up this time, I cant keep coming to the rescue
Dont worry I wont, I have got her back and I am not letting her go this time, thanks Des, thanks for listening to me
Anytime Des got into the area car and went
So have we got Des Taviner to thank yet again
We have, he made me see sense, again Jim smiled

Robbie looked shocked as Marie dumped Jims belongings in reception
There is more where that come from too, tell Jim that... actually, get him down here and I will tell him myself
Whats happened asked Robbie as June and Jim entered reception
What dont you ask them two, Im sure they will explain
Marie, dont do this, it is our business
Why cant I do this Jim? I have got to get some respect back, Im sure that your girlfriend will help you move it
Please Marie
Oh doesnt anyone know the truth yet, that you and that old tart have been screwing each other behind my back
Dont you dare talk about June like that, she is more of a person than you ever will be, anyway this is not her fault
Funny it does not look like in my eyes, whatever you call her she ruined our marriage... Cant you handle the facts that you slept with her behind my back and they whole world will know that you cheated on me shouted Marie
What the hell is going on out here barked Gina Gold who had come into the front office and had witnessed the last exchange between Marie and Jim I didnt realise that we had opened a charity shop in the front office
Im sorry Inspector, I was just leaving my husbands belongings for Sgt Ackland, she has my husband so she might as well have the crap to go with him too Marie stormed out.
Sorry MaamJim began
I dont give a toss about what has happened, just get this stuff moved, Sgt Ackland my office now

Would you care to explain to me what exactly was going on out there and why are the ins and outs of your private life has turned into a slanging match in reception
Jim and Marie have split up
I gathered that, and you have something to do with it... are you back together?
Yes Maam, Im sorry that this has been dragged into the station, Jim only left Marie last night, we should have known that was going to happen
I hope this is the last time we have to see a performance like that, both you and Jim know better, its hardly a good example to be setting to the rest of the relief
Yes Maam, Sorry Maam
Bollocking over... Im glad that you and Jim are back together, you have been a pair of miserable sods recently.... dont bugger things up this time
We wont dont worry
Good, I dont think we could put up with the hassle again. Im not going to make an issue out of this, enough people are going to do that...Now go and help him with his things Gina smiled
Thanks Gina

Cathy watched June walk over to Jim, still unaware of what had happened in reception, she looked in amazement as Jim lent forward and kissed June, she was still staring as Jim and June pulled apart
We have an audience Jim whispered to June
Something wrong Cathy?
No Sarge
I take it news has not reached you then yet said Jim Im sure Robbie will be round to share it with you
What and not give Cathy the chance to spread some gossip, that would be cruel Jim, I think we should tell her June said trying not to laugh
Are you two back together? asked Polly
We are Pol Jim smiled
That is fantastic

A few weeks later Jim came into the canteen, he walked over to where June and Gina were sitting
I take it we are still a novelty then Jim exclaimed as he noticed half of the canteen was watching him as he sat down
You are going to be for sometime Jim, people are glad you are back together, I think that they are shocked that it only took you a few weeks to realise it, to be honest I dont think many believed that adultery would be in your remit St June
Some people would said June Im not that innocent
Im not the first married man that June has slept with either
Oh yes? asked Gina What have you been up to?
I had an affair with a married DCI some years ago
Im shocked, I think that halo may be tarnished some what
I made sure that was tarnished a long time ago
Im sure this is a conversation that Gina does not want to know about Jim
I will leave now before I hear something else that will shock me, will those figures be ready soon?
Yeah, give me an hour June replied as Gina left You ok darling?
Yeah could not be better, the initial paper work has been done, the divorce should be final in about 4 months, then I can concentrate on you and us spending the rest of our lives together
Lets not get too carried away Jim, lets just see what happens

A few months later Jim was walking through the station whistling to himself
You are in a good mood, like the cat who got the cream
I am Desmond, I am, today is one of the best days of my life, I am now officially a single man again and am going to do what I should have done a long time ago
What are you planning Jim?
You will see, have you seen June anywhere?
Shes in the canteen, just seen her go in there... are you going to do what I think you are? Des noticed Jims smile getting bigger
You can come and watch if you want
Jim walked into the canteen and walked over to June who was waiting in queue and he turned her round
I thought you were at home? June asked slightly surprised, Jim took hold of her hand and got down on one knee What are you doing Jim, everyone is watching
I dont care who is watching, I love you so much June, I have tried to live without you and could not, I saw sense and we are back together and I am not letting you go ever again I have asked you this before when I was drunk, but I am sober now and every word that I say is from the bottom of my heart, I love you, every inch of me is so madly in love with you, June Ackland will you marry me?
She looked at him; her face broke into a large smile Of course I will marry you Jim
He scooped her into his arms and kissed her as clapping broke out.
