It was a brilliant party and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, even Sgt Gilmore was smiling. There was a huge surprise for Duncan, when Mickey had arranged for Liz Rawton to return to join him.
"Duncan, I've got someone to see you" Mickey said
Duncan turned around and saw Liz standing there "Liz" Duncan said looking amazed
"Hello Duncan, I wanted to surprise you"
"Surprise! You've definitely done that, it is great to see you"
"And you, I've missed you"
"Me too"
"Come on let's dance"
Duncan and Liz went off to dance. Jim and Brandon were standing at the bar watching the reunion between Duncan and Liz. "Duncan looks happy" Brandon said
"Yeah, he's got Liz here now, that's why"
"Yes"
The party continued and it was about 12'0'clock and a man came to the microphone and said "Can I have everyone's attention please" Everyone went quite. "Thank you. There is no need to panic but a suspicious looking package has been found in one of the toilet cubicles. It has been reported to the police which is kind of funny since you are all police officers however they have advised me to evacuate the building just in case. It's a safety precaution, so could everybody please make their way to the exits and try not to panic"
Everybody started walking towards the exits. As the staff were making their way out, there was an explosion. "Oh my god" Jim said "Is everyone ok"
"Liz" Duncan shouted
"Duncan, what's the matter?" Jim said
"It's Liz, she's still inside"
"Are you sure"?
"Yes" Duncan said
Jim stood on top of a stone and shouted " Can I have everyone's attention please" everyone turned to face him "Thank you, now I know this has shook you all up, but it is important that I find out how many people are missing" Jim said eagerly
There was silence for a minute and then Gina shouted "There's four missing, Liz, Nick, Debbie and Luke"
"Ok, thank you. I will do my best to find out where these four are and I will let you know when they are found. Anybody who is hurt could you please go to the nearest ambulance and get assistance. Thank you" Jim said as he stepped off the stone.
"Jim, where are you going?" June said eagerly
"To find Jack and tell him what's happening"
"Jim, don't do anything stupid, leave it to the professionals, please" June pleaded"Look, I'll be ok, you go and get that cut on your head seen too"
"Ok, but be careful"
June walked off towards one of the ambulances and Jim walked towards Jack Meadows, who had just come back from his car. "Jack, there are four missing, Nick, Liz, Luke and Debbie"
"Debbie" Jack said "Well what are we waiting for" he said as he started running towards the flames.
"Jack, what are you doing?"
"Jim, I can't stand around here waiting for the emergency services to arrive and do something, while there are four members of my staff inside"
"Ok, wait I'll come with you" Jim said
Jack and Jim were running up the steps towards the flames and the entrance to the building. June came out of the ambulance and seen two figures going up the steps. "Jim NO!" June shouted "You'll kill yourself, leave it to the professionals" she shouted but it was too late, they had both already entered the burning building with their jackets over their head.
About five minutes later, the police and fire brigade turned up. "There are six people inside that burning building, why aren't you doing anything ?"Duncan said angrily
'i'm sorry Duncan, but the fire brigade can not enter the building until the bomb disposal unit arrive, because we think there is another device by the door of the building and it would be to dangerous to let anyone else enter the building at the moment, you know the score"
"But Liz is inside"
"I'm sorry, but we are doing everything we can at the moment, as soon as the bomb disposal unit get here and give the all clear we will send men into the building"
"Look if you won't get Liz out of there, I will" Duncan said as he pushed past the Harry the police officer and headed for the entrance
"Sorry Duncan, you can't go any further, until we are given the all clear. As you can see, we are trying our best to put the fire out. Now can you go back over there with your friends and leave us get on with our jobs"
A PC Harry Newman came and took Duncan back to the crowds of people.
About five minutes later Jack and Jim appeared from the blazing flames and smoke coughing, they were dragging a body each. Once they were away from the building, the firefighters came over and carried the bodies to the ambulances. Jim and Jack turned around and ran back towards the flames "Don't go back in!" A firefighter shouted but it was to late they had disappeared.
PC Newman walked over to the crowds of people and stood on the stone that Jim had stood on. Everyone looked up and went quiet. "Two bodies have been recovered from the building and they are said to be alive but I don't know the full extent of their injuries" Harry said
"Who are they?" Gina shouted
"They are believed to be PC Nick Klein and DI Rawton "
"Oh thank god for that," Duncan said with a sigh of relief
"Who found them?" Gina shouted
"Jack Meadows and PC Jim Carver, I believe and they have now gone back into the building in search for the other missing people"
"Can we see them?" Cass said"Yes, I will take you to them now" Harry said "as soon as we hear anything else, we will let you know"
Harry took Duncan and Cass to the ambulances.
"Oh Nick" Cass said, "Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine thanks to Jim and Jack. Are they alright?" Nick said as he hugged her
"They have gone back into the building to find the other two"
"Oh god"
"They'll be fine, don't worry" Cass said
Meanwhile in the other ambulance, Duncan sat holding Liz's hand, as she lay unconscious.
Meanwhile outside, the building was still on fire and everyone was waiting for news.
"Where's the bomb disposal unit?" June said eagerly
"They are stuck in traffic I am afraid"
As June was talking to Harry, she could see two figures emerging from the fire dragging two bodies.
"Jim" June shouted
Jack was dragging Debbie and he came out first and dragged her to safety. Jim was still at the door trying to drag Luke, and as he made his way out of the blazing building, there was a loud BANG! It was another explosion.
"No, Jim" June shouted
The blast from the building threw Jack to the floor next to Debbie, Luke was thrown up into the air and landed next to Jack, but there was no sign of Jim.
"Luke" Kerry shouted as she watched him fly through the air and land on the floor. PC Newman ran over to the three bodies. "Sir are you alright," Harry said
"Yes, I am fine" he said as he slowly scrambled up off the floor. His face was covered with small cuts and small burns.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, now let this surgeon look at these." Harry stood out of the way and watched Mr Thomas, who was a surgeon, look at Luke. "Luke, can you hear me? We need immediate assistance over here please" Mr Thomas shouted. The ambulance men ran over. "Right, we have one male, unconscious, has had a big blow to the head and has multiple burns to his face, arms and legs. He needs to be taken to hospital immediately"
"Yes sir" an ambulance man said. They carefully put a collar on Luke and carried him to the ambulance. Kerry followed and went to hospital with him.
"Right, who's next?" Mr Thomas said
"Sir I think you should go and have yourself checked out " Harry said, "Leave the doctors help"
"I am perfectly alright thank you, now get out of my way, I want to stay here. Where's Jim Carver?"
"He hasn't been found yet"
"You mean he is still inside"
"We don't know. We have teams looking for him"
"Jack, Mr Thomas" Mickey shouts "Come quick, its Debbie"
Jack went over to Debbie. "Debbie, can you hear me? Debbie?" Debbie stopped breathing. "Mr Thomas, we must get her to hospital"
"She won't make it to hospital, she needs an operation now" Mr Thomas said, while conducting CPR "Come on Debbie, don't do this to me"
"Mr Thomas!"
Debbie begins to breathe again
"Right, we have a slight pulse, we need to move fast, lets get her into the back of an ambulance and I will conduct the operation"
"Are you sure about this Mr Thomas"?
"No, I am not sure, but it is the best chance Debbie has, so come on"
"Ok"
The paramedics carry Debbie to the back of the ambulance and Mr Thomas follows.
Meanwhile there was still no sign of Jim, the building was still a blaze and it was starting to fall down. The firefighters were desperately trying to find Jim, but they had no real hope of finding him alive if he was still inside.
"Any sign?" a firefighter said
"No sir, nothing"
"Well keep trying"
"Ok"
The firefighter went back into the blaze.
In the ambulance, Mr Thomas performed the operation on Debbie and even though he had limited resources, the operation was successful. This did not mean that Debbie was out of the woods yet, it just meant that Mr Thomas had done his best to stabilise her until she could be seen probably in hospital. "Right, she's stable now, lets get moving"
"Ok Mr Thomas, are you going to come with us"
"No, I will wait here to here news on PC Carver, in case I am needed"
"Ok"
Mr Thomas got out of the ambulance and went over to PC Newman to find out what was happening. Jack climbed into the ambulance and went off to hospital with Debbie.
Meanwhile while all this was happening Lucy, one of Jim's ex-girlfriends arrived on the scene. She had been visiting her mother in Sunhill and had seen the explosion on the television. "Excuse me, could you tell me if PC Jim Carver is alright please," Lucy said to June
"And you are?" June replied with tears running down her cheeks.
"Oh, sorry I am Lucy his ex-girlfriend"
June looked shocked, for two reasons. One was that Lucy was there in front of her asking about Jim and the other was because Lucy was tall, slim and beautiful, how could she compete with that. June quickly snapped out of her dreamy ways
"Umm, no they haven't found him yet"
"What do you mean?"
"Jim went in to find some of the others inside, and on his way out there was another explosion and now no one can find Jim""Oh no" Lucy said looking worried.
As they were talking June could see a firefighter dragging a much-burnt body out of the building and laying it on the floor. "Oh no" June cried
"Its not?" Lucy said
"Oh Jim, I told you not to go in" June cried as she sat down next to Tony
"Are you alright?" Tony said
"I don't know," she cried, "What am I going to do now?"
Tony put his arm around her put he looked a bit puzzled as to what June had meant by "What will she do now?"
Lucy ran over to the body and saw the firefighters shaking their heads as the body was placed into a body bag and zipped up. Lucy began to cry.
Harry walked over to the crowds of people and stood on the stone once again. Everyone went quiet. "A body has been found, unfortunately the body is so badly burnt we are unable to identify it. As we are only aware of one person missing at the moment, we can only assume that the body is that of PC Jim Carver. However, this cannot be confirmed until a post mortem is carried out"
The crowds went dead silent, as all you could hear was crying, Jim was a good friend to everyone and now he had gone, everyone was devastated, especially June and Lucy.
Harry got off the stone and walked over to Lucy, June and Tony. "Does PC Carver have any family, we could contact"
"No"
As they were talking Reg ran up to them, "Harry, there's another one missing"
"Are you sure?" Harry said
"Yes"
"Who?" Tony said, "We accounted for everyone"
"There was another person," Matt said looking shocked "Maybe that's where Jim disappeared too, maybe he heard someone else and went to help him"
"Martin Morgan one of the canteen staff. He was supposed to have left early, but I just ran his house and his girlfriend said that he rang her and said he had decided to stay"
"Yes, but maybe he went somewhere else"
"No Des just said to me, where's Martin and I said he had gone home and then he told me that he was talking to him just before the explosion"
"Right, ok thanks" Harry said "Boys, there's been another person reported"
"What!"
"Get back in there" a firefighter shouted.
The firefighters went to the engines to be geared back up to enter the blazing building.
As they were, being geared up someone from the crowd shouted, "Look!" Everyone looked and in the distance, you could see this body crawling on the floor by the entrance.
"Looks like you've found the missing man" Matt said
"Is it Martin?' Ken said eagerly
"I don't know, I can't see from here," Matt said
"Maybe it's Jim" Lucy said as they all watched the firemen running to help who ever it was out of the building.
Everyone waited for news of the person they had just helped out of the building. All the spectators watched as the paramedics run over to the body. Harry walked over to the crowd of people. "Well, who is it?" Lucy said eagerly
"I am afraid we are still not sure the name of the person that has just been rescued from the building"
"Are you telling us that the person you have just pulled out of the building is dead as well?" Tony said
"No, the man that has just been rescued collapsed and fell unconscious before he could tell us who he was" a fire fighter said
"Can you take me to him please?" Mr Thomas said
"The paramedics are trying to revive him at the moment, no one has seen him not even the police�� the fire fighter replied
"More of a reason why I should be there" Mr Thomas said
"Ok"
��I'll come too�� Harry shouted
The fire fighter, Harry and Mr Thomas walked over to the ambulance. Mr Thomas looked at the body "Right, let me have a look please"
"Yes Mr Thomas" the paramedic said
"Right we need to bag him, quickly please"
The paramedics did what Mr Thomas said, "1,2,3,4, come on. Again, 1,2,3,4, I won't let you do this to me" Mr Thomas said
"We have a pulse Mr Thomas"
"Good, right come on, we must get him to hospital. I will follow behind"
"Ok Mr Thomas"
Mr Thomas got out of the ambulance rubbing his head. June and Tony watched his expression carefully. "It doesn't look like good news," Tony said
"We don't know that, let��s wait and see what Mr Thomas says" Gina said. They all watched the ambulance drive off with flashing lights. Mr Thomas walked over to them with Harry following "Right I need to get to the hospital, can anyone take me please, I am not allowed near my car" Mr Thomas said
"Who is it?" Gina asked
"It's PC Carver" Harry added
June sighed with relief and then said " How is he, he's not��"
"PC Carver has inhaled a lot of smoke in there, which is preventing him from breathing"
"Oh no" Lucy said "Is he still unconscious"
"While I was in the ambulance, PC Carver stopped breathing, but we have got him back now and he needs an operation, he will be unconscious for a while yet"
"I will take you to the hospital Mr Thomas" Harry said
"Thank you"
"Sgt Ackland, Lucy can I take you anywhere"
"To the hospital please" June replied eagerly
"Me too please" Lucy added
"Tony?"
"If that was Jim, that must mean that the body found earlier must be Martin's," he cried
"Come on Tony, don't upset yourself, it's not your fault" Gina said, "You go, I will look after him and inform Martin's family"
"Thanks" June said
June, Lucy and Mr Thomas got into Harry's car and they drove off.
Meanwhile at the hospital, Nick waited in a waiting room with Kerry, they were both awaiting news on their loved ones. "Sit down Nick, you will wear the carpet out" Kerry said
"I can't keep still, what happens if she dies. It will be all my fault" Nick said
"Don't be silly, it's not your fault"
"Oh I am sorry, listen to me going on when you are in the same boat"
"It's alright. I hope Mr Thomas and Jim are alright"
There was a knock on the door and a doctor came in "PC Klein"
"Yes"
"PC Rickman is back from theatre now, would you like to go and sit with her"
"Yes please. Will you be alright Kerry"
"Yes you go" Kerry said
"Let me know when you get some news"
" I will"
Nick walked out with the doctor "Don't be alarmed by all the machines and she is still unconscious at the moment so don't expect too much"
"She will be alright though," Nick said eagerly
"The operation went well, and over time she should make a full recovery"
"Thanks"
Nick went into the room and sat by Cass's side. He took her hand and placed it by his head. "Cass, I don't know if you can hear me, but I love you" Nick said with tears in his eyes.
Meanwhile upstairs on a ward Duncan sat with Liz "There's no need for me to be taking up a bed" Liz said, "I am fine"
"Look, the doctor said he would like to keep an eye on you, so you are staying"
"Yes sir" Liz laughed, "I need to find out how the others are"
"I will go and find out" Duncan said
"Thanks"
Duncan kissed her on the cheek and then left to find someone who could tell him how everyone was. He walked down the corridor and bumped into Harry and the others. "How is everyone"?
"Debbie had to have emergency surgery at the scene, but she should be alright, Jack is fine, he has a few cuts and burns, Jim has been rushed to theatre, we don't know how bad it is yet and Martin was found dead I am afraid"
"Martin! No"
"Yes. How are Liz and Cass?" June asked
"Liz is on a ward upstairs and Cass was taken to theatre last time I heard"
"And Luke?"
"I don't know I am afraid"
"Do you know where Kerry and Nick are?��
"Yes, they are in the relatives room""Ok thanks"
"I'd better get back to Liz" Duncan said
"Ok, I will pop up later"
Duncan walked off towards the lifts. "I will go and find out what's happening, you all go to the relatives room and wait for news," Mr Thomas said
Harry, June and Lucy to the relatives room, where they found Kerry "Where's Nick?" June said
"He's gone to be with Cass, she's back from theatre"
"Oh right, how is she?"
"She's still unconscious, but I think she will make a full recovery," Kerry said
"Oh thank god" June said "What about Luke?"
"I don't know, they won't tell me anything," Kerry said with tears in her eyes
"Come on, I am sure he will be all right love" Harry said putting his arm around her to comfort her.
"I need a drink, does anybody else want one" Lucy said
"No thank you"
"Ok"
Lucy left the room and as she was leaving a doctor walked in to the room "PC Young"
"Yes" Kerry said as she stood up
"Would you like to sit down please," the doctor said
"Oh no" Kerry shouted
"I am sorry but PC Ashton died ten minutes ago"
"NO!!" she shouted. She fell into Harry's arms and June came over to comfort her.
"PC Young, if there is anything I can do for you, you know where I am"
"Yes thanks" June said
Kerry sat down next to June crying and Lucy came back. "What's happened?" Lucy said
"Luke the young PC who was brought in, died ten minutes ago"
"No, oh I am so sorry" she said
Meanwhile up in theatre Jim's operation had finished and he was in the recovery room. Debbie's operation had also finished and she was on a ward, Jack went to see her. "Debbie"
"Ah, my hero" Debbie smiled
"How are you?"
"In pain, but alive thanks to you"
"Well it's all in a day's work" Jack laughed
"I didn't know running into a blazing building was a usual thing for you to do" Debbie smiled
"Oh that, well I didn't think about that, myself and Jim just ran in"
"You are so modest sir. How is Jim?" Debbie said
"He is in the recovery room"
"Is he alright?"
"He inhaled a lot of smoke, and he banged his head in the second blast, but he should be alright, although it was touch and go in the ambulance" Jack said
"Oh, I hope he is alright"
"Anyway, back to you, do you want me to get them to give you more pain killers"?
"No it's alright thanks, but you could adjust my pillows""Ok" Jack said as he got up. He walked over to the bed and started adjusting the pillows and then all of a sudden Debbie gave him a kiss on the cheek. Jack looked in shock
"Sorry sir, I couldn't resist it, it's just to say thank you"
"As I said Debbie, it was all in a day's work"
"Yes of course"
"Right well I had better go and check on the others, I will come and see you later"
"Ok, and thanks again sir"
Jack walked off with a slight smirk on his face.
Meanwhile downstairs Harry had taken Kerry to see Luke, this left June and Lucy awaiting news on Jim. "Did Jim know you were coming?" June asked
"No, but I was going to surprise him, he loves surprises" Lucy smiled "I will stay if you want to get back to the station, PC Stamp looked as though he could do with a shoulder to cry on back there"
"No it's alright, I would rather stay, until I know Jim is alright" June said sharply
"Are you and Jim close?"
"What do you mean?" June snapped
"Well, it's just that you seem awfully concerned about Jim" Lucy said
"Yes well he is a good friend"
"Just a friend?"
"What are you trying to imply? June said
"Nothing"
"I am happily single" June said with tears in her eyes "Oh who am I trying to kid, you are right, I do have feelings for Jim, but he doesn't know, so I would appreciate if you kept it to yourself"
"Of course, he's a good man at heart"
"I know" June said
"I came back in hope that he would take me back"
June looked shocked "You have come back to be with him?"
"Yes"
"Oh I see��" Before June could finish, Mr Thomas interrupted them
"Sgt Ackland, Lucy, Jim is out of theatre now and he is in I.T.U, the next couple of hours are critical."
"How did the operation go?"
"As well as could be expected, I am sure PC Carver will pull through," Mr Thomas said
"Can we see him?" Lucy asked
"Yes, but one at a time"
"Is it alright if I go first?" Lucy said
"Umm, Yes I suppose" June replied
"Thanks"
Lucy, June and Mr Thomas made their way upstairs to the ward. June felt a little angry that Lucy had just come back to Sun Hill and taken over. As they got to the room where Jim lay, June watched as Lucy went in and sat by his side. June watched through the window, tears ran down her cheek as she saw all the tubes and machines attached to Jim. She had seen people in the same position before but this was different, it was Jim, the man she secretly loved, she felt helpless. All she could do was pray that Jim would pull through.
Harry went up to the ward to visit Liz. "Hi DI Rawton, How are you feeling?" PC Newman asked,
"I am fine thanks, I am discharging myself" Liz said
"Do you think that is such a good idea"
" No I don't, I think you should listen to the doctors" Duncan said
"I am just taking up space and there is nothing wrong with me. I will be fine at home"
"Well you are coming home with me if you are discharging yourself"
"Ooh there's an offer ma'am" Harry said
"There's no need really"
"Look if you are going to discharge yourself then you are coming home with me and that's final"
"Ok if you insist. Harry how are the other's"
"PC Carver is in I.T.U, Debbie is recovering well, PC Rickman is still unconscious and I am afraid that PC Ashton didn't make it" Harry said
"No he was so young, How is Kerry?"
"Not good, I am going to see her now"
"Does Nick know about Luke?" Liz said
"No I don't think so"
"Oh poor Kerry" Duncan said, "I should go and see her"
"Yes you go and I will come down once the doctor has seen me," Liz said
"OK" Duncan said
Duncan walked off down the corridor to the lift and he bumped into Nick, who had just gone for some fresh air.
"Nick how's Cass?"
"Not good. How's DI Rawton?" Nick asked,
"She's fine. She is discharging herself now"
"That sounds like her. Do you now how the other's are?"
"Umm well Jim is in I.T.U" Duncan said
"Is he going to pull through?" Nick said eagerly
"I don't know"
"Debbie is recovering well apparently"
"What about Luke?"
"Luke died"
"No, oh no, where's Kerry?" Nick asked
"I am going to see her now"
"Oh will you send her my condolences, I can't leave Cass now" Nick said,
"She will understand" Duncan replied
Duncan got into the lift and pushed the button. Nick still in shock from the bad news walks slowly back to Cass's room, but when he gets there he is in for a big surprise Cass has gone. "Excuse me where's my girlfriend?" Nick shouted,
"I am sorry sir I don't know. I will just go and find out for you," the nurse said
"Has something happened? Oh no please god, I only left her for a minute." Nick cried
"Wait one moment sir," the nurse said
The nurse walked off to speak to the doctor. She came back about ten minutes later with Mr Davies a consultant.
"PC Klien?"
"Yes, that's me. What's happened?" Nick said eagerly
'Are you PC Rickman's boyfriend?'
'Yes'
"Ok there was a complication with your girlfriend so we have had to take her back down to theatre"
"No, oh no" Nick cried. As he wept he collapsed into the chair " Will she be alright?"
"We are not sure yet. But there is something PC Klien."
"What"
"Did you know that your girlfriend is pregnant"?
"What, no, oh my god. Is the baby alright?"
"The baby is fine now but that was the complication" Dr Davies said
"A baby, I had no idea. I am going to be a father"
"Yes PC Klien"
"Is Cass out of theatre yet?" Nick asked
"She is in the recovery room at the moment, but if you wait in her room, the porters will bring her down shortly"
"Ok"
"But PC Klien I must once again warn you that there will be a lot of tubes and machines"
"I understand"
Nick walks off down the corridor.
Meanwhile in I.T.U., Jim is still unconscious and Lucy is still with him. June is sitting outside the room trying to fight back the tears in front of Mr Thomas.
"Sgt Ackland, I think you should go home and get some rest, Miss Hampton will let you know if there is any change."
"No I am fine thanks, I want to stay"
"Would you like anything?"
"No thanks" June said wiping away a tear "How is Debbie?"
"Doing well, thankfully. I will go to see her tomorrow"
All of a sudden, there was this loud beeping noise from inside Jim's room. "Oh no" Mr Thomas said
"Jim, no Jim" June shouted
A team of doctors and nurses rushed into the room and one of the nurse's brought Lucy out and sat her down. "What happened Miss Hampton" Mr Thomas said
"I don't know I was sitting there holding his hand telling him how much I loved him and missed him and then the machines started to beep"
June listened to Lucy explain what happened and the more she listened the more tears flowed down her cheeks. The thought of another woman touching Jim instead of her, telling him she loved him that she missed him, it made her feel sick. A nurse came out of the room "Clear the way please" she shouted they pushed the bed with Jim on down the corridor. "Mr Thomas we are going to need you," A doctor shouted. Mr Thomas followed quickly behind. "What's happening" June cried
"I don't know but it doesn't look good does it" Lucy replied
"No""You love him don't you" Lucy said
"I don't know, yes, yes I do" June cried, "What am I going to do?"
"I don't think I am the one to ask June. I am in love with him too," Lucy said
"I know and I think he still has feelings for you so I suppose it's been decided for me, I stay single and leave Jim to be with the woman he loves"
"Do you think he still loves me or does he just have feelings for me because of old times?"
"I don't know, I... Oh sorry I can't do this" June runs off down the corridor, she couldn't stay there telling another woman that she thinks the man she loves, loves her. She doesn't want him to love Lucy; she wants him to love her as much as she does him. She runs to the nearest exit and leans over the barrier crying.
Meanwhile outside Duncan found Kerry sitting on a bench crying looking at a photo of her with Luke. "Kerry?"
"Oh Duncan, What am I going to do?" Kerry cried
"You will be alright, you have all your friend's to help you" Duncan said
"Oh Duncan he was so young, we were going to get married and now he has gone, I can't cope on my own"
"Yes you can, everyone will help you get through this"
"Thank you but."
"But nothing, the first thing is to tell your family, they will be awaiting news"
"Yes" Kerry said
"Right well would you like me to ring them and tell them what's happened"
"No, I want to go and speak to them face to face and I want to tell Luke's family"
"Ok, well I will take you" Duncan said
"No you must stay with Liz"
"Liz is fine, she is coming home now"
"Ok, thank you. How are the others? Cass?" Kerry said
"Not to good apparently, Jim is in I.T.U, Debbie is alright, she is recovering well and Cass is still unconscious"
"Oh no they have to pull through I can't lose my best mate as well"
"Don't worry about that now, let's concentrate on you"
"I have to find out how they are before I go and I must see Nick" Kerry insisted
"Nick sends his condolences Kerry but he can't leave Cass right now"
"No I know" Kerry said. She looked over and saw Harry and Liz walking over "How are the other's?"
"Well I have just seen Nick and apparently Cass was rushed back into theatre because of a complication but she is now in the recovery room and is doing well. There was also another surprise for our PC Klien, the complication with Cass was that she is pregnant" Liz said
"Pregnant? No" Duncan said
"Yes and Nick knew nothing about it"
"Is the baby alright?" Duncan asked
"Yes fine"
"At least something good as come out of this then" Kerry said trying to give a small smile.
"Yes" Duncan said putting his arm around her 'How are you?"
"Numb" Kerry said, "How are Jim and Debbie?""Debbie is recovering well, apparently Mr Thomas and Jack went to see her, but Jim is not good, I spoke to Lucy and she said he was rushed back into theatre about half an hour ago and he is still in there. Apparently they needed Mr Thomas to operate"
"Oh no, we can't loose him. I would never forgive myself"
"It's not your fault love" Harry said
"If he dies, it is because he tried to save Luke"
"Yes but that's not your fault"
"Look come on Kerry lets get you home, it's been a long, hard night"
"Will you take me to my dad's please"
"Of cause I will" Duncan said
"Thank's' Kerry replied 'Harry, will you do me a favour?" Kerry said
"Anything"
"If anything happens to Cass or Jim will you ring me on this number" Kerry said handing him a piece of paper with the number on
"Yes of course:
Harry kissed her on her cheek and said "Kerry I will see you later"
"Ok thanks"
Kerry climbs into Duncan's car and they drive off. Harry watches as they leave and then he goes back inside to see if there is any more news.
Meanwhile outside theatre, Lucy is still waiting for news. June comes back and sits down. "Are you alright?" Lucy said
"Um, yes, no, oh I don't know" June said putting her head in her hands 'There's no news then"
"No" Lucy replied, "You look tired June, why don't you go home and get some rest, I will let you know if anything happens"
"No, I would rather stay here with Jim"
"What about the others, Tony?" Lucy said,
"Why do you keep mentioning Tony?"
'Jim always told me that Tony had a thing for you" Lucy said
'Oh did he, well nothing is going on between me and Tony we are just friends'
'June go home really there is no need for the two of us to be here and even if Tony is just a friend he could probably do with talking to someone right now and he will probably be wondering where you are, he is staying with you isn't he?'
'Yes his house is being done out' June snapped "Oh I don't know, I should ring him but I can't. I don't want to go home, I want to be with Jim"
"Yes but I am here and as you said, Jim still loves me"
"Look I am not going anywhere, I love..." June said but before she could say anymore, a voice came from behind her.
