Part 4
This time Jim had had enough he just wanted to spend time with June and his daughter. He and Marie had a row which ended with Marie leaving �I am sorry about that June�
�Don�t worry�
Jim spent all afternoon with them enjoying the family atmosphere.
June got ready to go out with Tom and packed a bag for Mia. She handed the bag to Jim
�What�s this for?�
�It�s some of Mia�s things for tonight�
�I thought I would stay here with her� Jim said
�Jim, Mia needs to get used to being in your house with Marie and Ben�
Jim looked shocked �Look Jim it doesn�t matter how much I don�t like the fact that Marie is playing mum to my little girl, I just have to get used to it because she�s your wife, so take her back to yours and bring her back tomorrow�
�Ok�
Jim took Mia home with him, while June went out with Tom.
�So what have you been up to then in the last two years?� Tom asked
�When I wasn�t looking after Mia you mean�
�yes I suppose�
�Well to be honest apart from looking after Mia and my job I didn�t do much
�Is there anyone on the scene?�
�No�
�Are you trying to tell me a lovely woman like yourself didn�t have a bloke for two years, who are theses Leeds men they must need their heads read�
June blushed �Well there was one bloke�
�Ah!�
�But it ended after 6 months�
�He hurt you?�
�No I hurt him, he was a really nice bloke and I think I fell in love with him but he wanted children and I am too old to have anymore so I ended it. He was so hurt, I felt terrible, he still keeps in contact now and again.�
�A copper?�
�Yes Paul� she laughed �What is it with me and coppers hey. What about you then?�
�Oh there�s no one special, I haven�t found the one yet�
�You will�
They continued to chat about the past and present and then Tom drove June home, she invited him in for a coffee and they chatted some more.
�Oh god look at the time June, I had better get off Tom smiled Thank you for a lovely evening�
�And thank you it was lovely� she replied.
She really had enjoyed herself, he reminded her of Jim, they were so alike.
�We should do it again sometime� Tom smiled as he kissed her cheek, he stared into her eyes just like Jim used to and kissed her lips softly, and she responded slowly, the kiss became more passionate before June pulled away suddenly
�I am sorry Tom, I cant do this not with you�
�Its Jim isn�t it�
�You remind me of him yes and if I let this continue it wouldn�t be fair on you�
�I understand, my brother was a fool to let you go June�
�Maybe�
�Goodnight June�
�Night� June said before shutting the door.
She went up to the bedroom and lay on the bed, tears pricking her eyes. Once again Jim had got in the way of her and another man she thought, why do I let him affect me like this, he is married, I should move on perhaps I shouldn�t have finished with Paul she thought.
As the tears fell down her cheeks, she went and lay on Mia�s bed, the house seemed so empty without her, she missed her.
She pictured Jim and Marie playing happy families with her daughter and sobbed, eventually she cried herself to sleep.
Meanwhile at Jims Mia wouldn�t settle in her new bedroom, she kept crying for her mother. Jim at first thought he should phone June because he didn�t like to see Mia upset but Marie had talked him out of doing that.
He then decided to sleep in the room with her, Marie wasn�t keen on that either, she thought he should bring Mia in to their bedroom with them but Jim stood his ground and said no, he didn�t think it was right so he ended up sleeping in Mia�s room.
The next morning Jim took Mia home to June
�Hello sweetheart� June beamed �Oh mummy�s missed you she hugged her�
�And she�s missed you� Jim added �She cried for you all night�
�Well it was new to her, it will be better next time�
�Maybe�
�Jim, it will take time that�s all�
�Anyway how was last night?�
�Lovely thanks�
�Tom treated you alright?�
�Of course, you two are very similar, you know� she smiled
�Are you seeing him again?�
�Probably, socially�
�I see�
�We are just friends Jim�
Before Jim could say anything the doorbell rang, June went and answered it
�Paul, what are you doing here?� June said looking shocked
