'Hey one more day now June' Polly smiled
'I know' June beamed
'Are you excited?'
'I can't wait Pol, I have been waiting for this for so long'
'I am so pleased for you June, for a while back there I thought there was no chance of you two getting back together'
'I know'
'You knew what Marie was like before he married her didn't you?' Polly said
'Yes and I told him but I suppose it was a lot to ask for him to listen to me. Anyway that doesn't matter now'
'No'
Jim walked in with Tony 'No I think I will do it tomorrow' Jim said to Tony
'You'll do what tomorrow?' Polly asked
'This paperwork' Jim replied lifting the paperwork in his hand
'Oh no you won't' June said as she walked over to him 'You are not working tomorrow'
'But........'
'But nothing you are not working, I won't everything to run smoothly' June smiled as he kissed him lightly
'Oh I do love you' he replied as he kissed her again but more passionately
'Can't you two wait until you get home?' Tony laughed
'Oh sorry' June smiled
'Well I am not, I am not going to see her tonight remember' Jim said
'Behave you two' Polly smirked
'Yeah come on we have work to do' June said as she walked back to her desk
For the rest of the day Polly and June went out on a job and Jim and Tony sorted out their paperwork.
At the end of the shift Tony came up to collect Jim 'Right are you ready, the lads are downstairs waiting for us' Tony said
'Hold on what do you mean the lads are ready' Jim asked
'Well you didn't think your last night of freedom was going to be spent in the flat'
'Well..'
'Well forget it'
'You look after him' June smiled
'I will, come on' Tony said
As Jim was grabbing his coat, Robbie, Kerry, Honey, Gina, Sam and Eva ran in all dressed up 'What's going on?' June asked
'Come on sarge, have we got a night for you' Robbie smiled
'Oh no, I just.....'
'Oh don't be boring June' Gina said
'Come on' Polly added'Did you know about this?' June asked Polly
'Of course'
'Ok, ok' June laughed
'He you lot, look after her' Jim ordered
'Yes sir' Kerry smirked
June grabbed her bag and coat
'Well I suppose this is it then. I will see you tomorrow' June smiled as she looked into Jim's eyes
'You certainly will' Jim replied before hugging her 'I can't wait until tomorrow you know'
'Me neither, I love you' June said before kissing him passionately
'Oh please' Gina laughed
'You take care of yourself tonight, I want you there in one piece tomorrow' Jim ordered
�I will be Jim, I have never wanted to be in a place more than I want to be at that church tomorrow'
'Oh come on you two' Tony said impatiently
'Ok, Bye' June smiled as she kissed him one last time before leaving with the girls.
Jim watched her leave, he still couldn't believe that he was marrying her tomorrow
'Are you alright Jim?' Tony asked
'I am so lucky Tone, I nearly lost her, how could I do that'
'It doesn't matter now, you are getting married tomorrow, so come on the lads will think we have gone'
'Ok' Jim said as he followed Tony out of CSU
The lads had decided to take Jim to a strip club and girls went to a bar.
'So what's it feel like then June, to be getting married this late in life' Gina asked
'It's fantastic, I never thought I would get married' she beamed
'Right come on June put this on' Kerry ordered as she gave June an L and a vale
June put them on 'June we have one last thing for you' Robbie smiled
'Oh yeah'
'Yeah a fireman' Eva laughed
'Oh no not a striper' June giggled
'Yeah'
The stripper dressed as a fireman came over and started to strip.
Meanwhile, the lads were having a great time at the strippers club 'Any second thoughts?' Smithy asked
'None at all' Jim replied
'Are you sure I mean this is the second time for you to say your vows in 18 months'
'I am sure, this is the last time I say my vows I can assure you, Marie was a big mistake'
'A bit of a nutter'
'Yeah'
'June must love you to protect you like that'
'I know and it was then I realised how much I loved her, I have always loved her but I denied it for years'
'You mean when I was a PC you held a hidden passion for June''Yeap'
'Flipping heck why didn't you make your move sooner'
'Well I didn't think she liked me in that way' Jim smiled
'But she obviously did'
'Yep'
It was 12 O Clock , June and the girls had gone back to her house and Tony and Jim had gone back to Robbie's as that was where Tony was living.
'June can I ask you something?' Honey said
'Go on' a drunk June replied
'How long have you liked Jim?'
'I have fancied him since the first day I met him. I puppy walked him'
'So if you have liked him for so long why has it taken you 20 years to get together?'
'Because I was afraid of rejection and of losing my job'
'I see. Oh I wish I could find someone like Jim' Polly said
'You will one day Pol' June smiled 'Oh god I love him so much'
'I think we all know that' Sam said
'That stripper was fit' Kerry laughed
'Oh yeah' June giggled
'Sarge! You are not supposed to say that' Kerry smiled
'Well its true he was fit but not as fit as my Jim'
'Oh listen to her, my Jim' Robbie teased 'Well I wouldn't have said no to him, there is something about a man in a fireman's uniform'
'Well he wasn't wearing that for long' Gina laughed
'No'
'What do you think the lads got up too?' June asked
'Oh she's thinking about Jim again' Gina sighed
'I bet they had a great time' Kerry smiled 'You know what men are like in strip clubs
'Strip club?' June said
'Yeah that's where they took Jim'
'Oh your not jealous are you June, I mean you ha a stripper too' Gina laughed
'Not jealous, just concerned'
'How do you mean?' Polly asked
'Well, I am a lot older than Jim'
'Your not having second thoughts?' Eva asked
'She's drunk don't listen to her' Polly smiled
'Perhaps he would be better with someone younger'
'Oh don't start, come on I think it's time you went to bed' Sam said 'You are starting to say tings you don't mean'
The girls helped June to the bedroom and they all continued to party.
Meanwhile at Robbie's Jim and Tony had both gone to bed.
The next day
'Morning June' Polly smiled as she placed a tray with toast, tea and a glass of water with some asprin
'Morning' June stirred
'How are you feeling?'
'Not too bad considering. What time is it?'
'10. The hairdresser will be here in an hour to do everyone's hair' Polly smiled
'It's actually happening isn't it?' June beamed
'Yep it is'
'I am so happy Pol'
'I know'
Mean while over at Robbie's Jim was up and dressed 'Your keen the wedding isn't until 3' Tony laughed
'I know but I couldn't wait, I just want to marry her'
'I know and you will'
'She will turn up won't she'
'Of course she will, what made you say that?'
'Well I wouldn't blame her if she changed her mind'
'Jim listen to me, June loves you and you know how hard June finds it to love someone, she will be there'
'Yes your right, I just want everything to be perfect that's all' Jim said
'And it will be'
2:30pm
Jim and Tony are at the church greeting the guests 'Oh so many people from the past have turned up' Jim smiled 'Vicky, Brownlow, Des, Luke, Craig'
'Yeah they all loved you two that's why' Tony replied
'I just wish Frank could have come'
'Yeah well never mind'
'Yeah'
Meanwhile at June's, Bob, Robbie and Sam were waiting downstairs for June. There was a knock on the door 'I'll get it' Bob said
He answered the door and was gob smacked by what he saw 'Hello Bob'
'Frank, it's good to see you'
'Is June around'
'We are waiting for her, come in. Does she know you are coming?'
'Yes, I called her, Jim doesn't though'
'Oh he will be pleased'
'I hope so'
'Ok, she's coming' Polly shouted
June walked downstairs in a beautiful white wedding dress 'Oh June' Sam smiled
'You looked beautiful' Bob added
'Are you sure you want to marry Jimmy Carver, you could always marry me' Frank joked'Frank you made it' June smiled as she hugged him
'Right are you ready?' Bob asked
'Yes come on'
3:00pm
'Where is she?' Jim said as he paced back and for 'She's not coming is she'
'Calm down she will be here' Tony laughed 'The bride is traditionally late'
'No something's wrong'
'Like what?' Tony asked
'I don't know, she's changed her mind or something'
'Well the woman I just saw was definitely not having second thoughts' a voice said from behind Jim. Jim turned around slowly 'Frank' Jim smiled
'Hello kid, Tony'
Jim hugged him and Frank shook hands with Tony
'Did June know about this?'
'Yep'
'Is she alright?' Jim asked
'She's looking fantastic Jim, you are one lucky man. I just said to her that she can marry me instead if she likes'
'Hey keep your hands off, she's mine' Jim laughed 'I am glad you could make it'
'So am I, right well the brides arrived so lets get inside' Frank said
Jim and Tony took their places and the music began to play. June and Bob walked down the aisle followed by Polly, Jim looked back and when he saw how beautiful she looked he had tears in his eyes.
She stood next to him and smiled, they both took their vows 'Ok you may kiss the bride'
Jim smiled and then kissed June passionately 'I love you Mrs Carver' Jim beamed
'And I love you Mr Carver'
