'I can hardly breathe.' Polly said. 'We are never going to get out of here are we.'
'Oh Jim.' June cried as he hugged her, he moved his hand to her head and they looked at each other.
'You'll be ok.' Jim whispered before dipping his head and kissing June lightly on the lips. Once their lips parted they stared into each other's eyes and then kissed passionately
'What are you doing?' Tony shouted.
'Oh Tony leave it.' Polly said.
June and Jim continued to kiss, it was as if they had forgotten their surroundings and the people they were with.
There was a noise at the door and Mickey entered 'They're alive.' He shouted. 'Come on.'
June and Jim broke apart. 'Go on.' Jim said.
Polly and June ran out first followed closely by Jim and Tony. Once outside the house Tony comforted Polly and Jim wanted to comfort June but Marie was there waiting to ship him off to the registry office.
'Oh Jim I thought I had lost you, are you alright?' Marie said as she hugged him. Jim nodded 'I phoned the registry office and they can still fit us in if you still want me.' Marie smiled.
Jim looked over to June and June looked back at Jim.
Jim and Marie arrived at the registry office.
'Now this is the part in the service were I have to ask if there is anyone present who knows of any reason why these two people should not be married.'
There was a long silence and Marie smiled to herself and then Jim turned around and looked at June. The pain was all over her face, she didn't want him to marry her but she couldn't stop him it wasn't fair to stop him she thought.
'Jim' Marie said.
Jim turned back around. 'I am sorry, stop, stop this I can't do this.' Jim said.
Everyone in the registry office gasped even June.
'Jim what are you talking about.' Marie said angrily.
'I am sorry Marie I can't marry you now or ever.'
'Why?'
'Because I love someone else, I am sorry I have hurt you, I didn't mean to and I do have feelings for you but they are not as strong as I first thought, I was getting carried away, listening to Honey and her stars.'
'Jim please don't do this.'
'I am sorry.'
'Who is she?' Marie spat.
Jim turned around and walked up to June, June stood up and he kissed her. Everyone gasped again. 'Well well, what happened in that cellar?' Gina smiled. 'Oh saint June, stopping a wedding.'
June was surprised, pleased, no delighted, she was overwhelmed and tears flowed down her cheek.
'Her, you are stopping my wedding for her.' Marie shouted as she walked up to them and slapped June. 'You bitch.'
'That's enough.' Jim ordered as he moved to protect June.
'Oh this is brilliant, I would pay to see this.' Gina laughed.
'Ma'am it's not funny.' Robbie said.
'Are you alright June?' Jim asked.
'Well that is the first decent thing you have done in months.' Tony said. 'I was wondering how you could go through with this sham of a wedding after what happened down the cellar.
''What happened down the cellar then Jim, that bitch has poisoned your mind against me, you we fine before you got locked up with her, so what happened to change your mind?'
'June and I talked and I finally realised that I loved her more than anything.' Jim replied.
'You bitch you have tried to ruin this from the beginning.' Marie screamed as she went for June. Jim stepped in to prevent the punch
'Don't call her that.' Jim snapped. 'This is not June's fault, I am to blame for it all so if you want to take it out on someone take it out on me.'
'You bastard.'
'Tony could you take June home.' Jim asked. 'June I will follow you as soon as I have sorted things here.' He said before kissing her again.
'Ok.'
Tony and Polly took June home.
Marie's brother came and took Marie home, Jim explained to the guests and then drove to June's. He pulled his key out of his pocket, he still had it, he felt strange using it but he did
'June?' Jim shouted
'In here.'
Jim walked into the lounge and was greeted by June hugging him.
'Oh Jim, I can't believe you just did that.'
'I couldn't go through with it, when we were down in that cellar a lot of home truths were told.'
'I am sorry I was so horrible to you.'
'No I am glad you were, it needed to be said and it made me realise that I knew very little about Marie and what I actually wanted was straight in front of me. I am sorry for the way I have been, for hurting you.'
'I love you.'
'When we kissed in the cellar I felt so happy like I did before, I didn't want to let go.'
'Shush Jim, that's all in the past now. All that matters now is that I love you and you love me.'
'I am never going to hurt you again'.
'I hope not.'
Jim kissed June passionately. 'I can't believe you kissed me at the registry office.' June smiled.
'Why shouldn't I, Marie asked me who I loved and it's you and I wanted everyone to know it.'
'Come on.' June smirked as she took Jim's hand and lead him up the stairs.
The following day Jim and June arrived for work, they were the talk of the station. 'Morning June.' Gina smiled 'How's the face?'
'Fine thank you.'
'So what happened yesterday then down the cellar hey?' Gina winked. 'I mean something must have happened for Jim to stop his wedding.'
'Would you like an action reply ma'am.' June smiled and grabbed Jim and kissed him passionately.
'Oh please enough.'
'Well you asked.' June smiled before grabbing Jim's hand and walking off.
'June I can't believe you just did that.' Jim laughed.
'Well she was asking for it, right come on lets go to the canteen and get this over with.' June sighed.
'It'll be alright, we have each other.'
June and Jim walked into the canteen and everyone fell silent. They walked over to collect a coffee
'Oh to hell with it.' June smiled 'Come here.'
June once again grabbed Jim and kissed him. 'There as you have all now witnessed Jim and I are back together so can you all now get back to work.'
The canteen began to get noisy again.
'June you are going to have to stop that.' Jim laughed. 'We will get into trouble.
'Well at least they all know now'.
'True.'
Adam and Jack walked up to them.
'I'm glad you are back together.' Adam smiled.
'Yeah it's about time.' Jack added before they walked off
Jim and June went and sat by Polly, Tony and Sam.
'I am pleased for you.' Sam said.
'It's wonderful'. Polly beamed. 'I knew you would get back together eventually'.
'Tony?' June said.
'Look Jim lets put the past behind us and start again as friends.' Tony replied as he offered Jim his hand to shake.
Jim shook his hand 'Ok.' he smiled.
'Oh brilliant.' June beamed as she kissed Tony on his cheek.
'But Jim.' Tony said.
'Yes.'
'Treat June right, don't hurt her again because if you do I will...'
'I know Tone, but I am not going to hurt her again ever.'
'Good.'
'So if I still need you for best man duties you would do it?' Jim asked.
'What are you saying are you and June?' Polly smiled .
June looked at Jim in amazement.
'Oh I don't see why not what's stopping us, I love June and June loves me.' Jim said as he got down on one knee.' June Ackland will you marry me?'
'Yes, yes.' June replied excitedly.
Everyone clapped in the canteen. 'Well Tone?' Jim asked.
'Of course I will mate.' Tony smiled as he hugged Jim. 'Congratulations.'
'I love you Jim Carver' June whispered as he lifted her off the floor and spun her around.
'And I love you, we are going to be so happy' Jim smiled before kissing her
