Interview with Ignited Records

IR: When do you expect your first vocal album to be released?

Slim: I'm hoping to get it out there by the Fourth of July.

IR: What should we expect from the album?

Slim: This isn't some basic shit. This shit'll make you think you know what I'm sayin? I rap about life you know and people can relate to that.

IR: I feel ya. What should we expect from future Slim releases?

Slim: Just one crazy white boy spittin' ill raps. Haha.

IR: Have any Record Companies approached you to sign with them?

Slim: Yeah. But like Hammer said, "can't touch this".

IR: How come you didn't sign?

Slim: This is my album you know. And I'm gonna put this shit out there myself. I don't need a label on my nuts all the time.

IR: Why are you so strong on being an Independent Rapper?

Slim: Because I look at other rappers in the "big-time" and to me they are just doing their job. But I look at prominent independent rappers, guys like Esham, and those guys worked their asses off to get heard. And I got mad respect and much love for guys like that. And that's the kind of guy I want to be.

IR: You're from?

Slim: Dirty Jersey baby! Rio Grande baby!

IR: What made you get into the music business?... And why Rap Music?

Slim: Well the second part is easy, because rap is in my blood. It's like the first time I ever watched MTV that shit just seeped into my bloodstream and I could feel it from then on. But what made me get into the music business? Well like I said I feel that rap is in my blood. And I look at the other white rappers out there who made it and I'm like if they can do it, shit I can do it better, you know?

IR: What's the deal with, Slim and Ignited Records, should we expect to see you and the company's artists on tracks together in the future as well?...

Slim: Well right now I'm not signed to any label. And for all ya'll out there who don't know the deal I got with Ignited is strictly a promotion and distribution deal. Meaning that they just advertise and sell my shit. It's not selling out because I have the same deal with music retailers. They sell my shit and give me most of the profit. And no doubt me and IR will hook up. Ignite Alive did a song with me called "United" and that's gonna be on the tape.

IR: What do you think of the ever changing music scene?

Slim: Well I don't follow the music scene. I'm in the underground rap scene. But how I feel about that is that there's a lot of hungry artists out there and hopefully they will get the respect they deserve and good luck to all of 'em.

IR: Who are/were your biggest influences in music?

This is the easiest question you've asked yet. My biggest influences were the independent rappers. They didn't care about MTV or BET or the radio, they just put their shit out for the love of rap/hip-hop. Much love to guys like that. Buy my tape! Peace. 1
