How we met

Jayme's side

In the fall of 2000, My best friend Deb came to visit me during her fall break from school. While Deb was here, she mentioned that she and her boyfriend were going to try to "set me up" with her boyfriend's roommate when I went out to visit her the following weekend at her school. Well, I didn't think too much of this idea, but since Deb's boyfriend's roommate (Jim) was a Computer Science major too, I figured we would at least have something in common and maybe we would be friends. Fast forward to the following weekend when I went out to Deb's school to visit her. We went over to her boyfriend's room where I met Jim for the first time. I was actually a bit nervous and shy when we first met, so I don't think I said too much to him at first. We all went out to dinner together which was a lot of fun and I felt much more relaxed around Jim after that. Then we all went to see the Mel Gibson movie "The Patriot" playing on campus. I found myself wishing that Jim would put his arm around me during the movie. He didn't, but I later found out that he really wanted to, he was just really shy around me too. We hung out some more that weekend and then I left. I didn't give Jim any information to contact me with or anything (stupid me!) and I just figured we'd just be friends. When I got back home for the last two days of fall break, I sent Deb an email telling her that she could give Jim my icq number and IM name if he wanted them. Apparently she didn't need to though, he found them on his own and when I got back to school and back online, he messaged me right away. I don't think I've gone a day without talking to him (at least electronically if not on the phone or in person) since then. A few weeks later, he came up alone to visit me at school. He brought me flowers and asked me if I would go out with him. By this point after talking to him for many hours a day, I had a huge crush on him, so of course I said yes. That was also the night that he first kissed me. The rest, as they say, is history!

Jim's side

Lets see...where to start. I guess the beginning would be good. I was living at State College in the dorms with my roommate Mike. He had a girlfriend named Deb. Mike mentioned something to me about Deb's one friend coming up to visit her and wondered if I'd like to go out with them all. So I said yes. He also told me that he was trying to set me up with Deb's friend. Of course he said that if nothing happened, it would be alright. I still decided to go out and we all had a good time. I didn't think that Jayme and I would end up dating at all, but I obtained her email address, ICQ Number, and AIM Name from different places. We started talking more online and became friends. I did want to ask her out and told her next time I saw her, I would. So we set a date for when I'd see her next. November 3rd, 2000 I drove out to meet her. I asked her out (kind of) in the parking lot when I first saw her. I trully asked her out later in her room that night. Of course she said yes, and that's about it.
