At the beginning of this sermon Bro. Mike was singing "At The Cross" written By Fanny Crosby. Who as you all know was blind. And he is Testifying between verses . And we will pick up the sermon just after the third verse where it talks about our Raptured soul.

I'm glad that Fanny Crosby was a pre-millenniumist, She said My raptured soul one of these days will be over yonder, on the other side of the river, Thank God Night is coming, But THANK GOD there can be no night where the light is. You remember when the light came into your soul, you will never walk in darkness again. Because light and darkness cannot occupy the same space at the same time, IMPOSSIBLE. If Darkness could over take the light it would be more powerful than the light. Three days and three days only had darkness over taken the light. But on that Easter 2000 years ago LIGHT!!!!! Conquered darkness, DEATH!!!conquered hate, GOD!! Destroyed the devil. Thank God he gave us the victory through Jesus Christ. Now just stay near the cross, stay near the cross. and walk in the light.And one of these days the resurrection and the light is coming, and we are goin to be where he is.
"STANDING IN THE SHADOW OF LOVE"
JOHN 19:25-27
Just remain standing would you please and lets turn over to the gospel of John, The Gospel of John as we remain standing in the sancuarry.The Gospel of John Chapter 19.And we will all look into the word of Almighty God together this morning,,,,.I love that old hymn ,,"In The Cross" ,, and it is good to hear the pages of God's word turning in God's house. John chapter 19 verse 25, Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, His mother and his mothers sister Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. v-26 "When Jesus therefore saw his Mother, and the disciple standing by, "whom he loved" He saith unto his mother "Woman Behold Thy Son" Then saith he to the disciple "Behold Thy Mother" and from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.
Verse 25 says: There was standing by the cross of Jesus, His mother, His mothers sister which was Salome doubtless,, Mary the wife of Cleophas,, Mary Magdalene. And JOHN. John the apostle, The Holy Spirit used him to write he gospel of John, 1st and 2nd and 3rd John and then gave him the revelation. He referred to himself, , Not by name but simply "That disciple whom Jesus Loved". It ain't us IT's HIM!!!!. I'm Just an old sorry sinner saved by Grace . whom Jesus loved.Our names are insignificant But His Name is all POWERFUL.,, And so this morning the thought comes to my heart, "Standing in the Shadow of LOVE" ,, There they were gathered around the cross, looking up, into the very face of LOVE,For John would say later through the power of the Holy Spirit through his pen, that "God IS Love" People wonder , well why was John so loven??? HE HAD LAID HIS HEAD ON THE BREAST OF LOVE.He had walked and talked and Fellowshipped with LOVE.He said in First John Chapter one we've handled the word of life, we've seen him , we've heard him , we've been with him, he was crucified and rose again and he is love. And you cain't touch LOVE without LOVE touching you,and when LOVE touches you , you will never ever be the same again. And I say according to this Book If LOVE has touched you LOVE is in ye, and ye cain't help but love God and you will love everybody that is begotten of God. because John says if you don't love those whom you have seen how can you love one whom you haven't seen.???? But when the LOVE of God comes on the inside of a Christian then that Christian will love God with all their heart, soul and mind, And they will love their brothers and sisters, and beyond their brothers and sisters they will LOVE this wicked humanity, amongst whom we dwell, because "God so loved the world that he Gave his only begotten Son. What caused all of that in John?????? He stood in the "SHADOW OF LOVE"!!!!!!!! Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, His mom, His aunt, the other mary, Mary Magdalene and John. "Dear Father may the very cross of Christ over shadow this church this morning. May we all fall into the shadow of LOVE. May we see afresh what Easter is all about this morning, touch every heart, every life, and every mind for our good and for the Glory of our saviour, for it is in his name that we pray.Amen and Amen.
The other night in revival, we were talking about the things that Jesus endured. and how any person any body saved or lost could ever take a honest look at calvary, and not want to just fall before God and receive him, I don't understand. But yet so many people can stand in the shadow of LOVE,,,,And yet love darkness rather than light. People all over Smyth county this morning love darkness rather than light.People all over this world today love darkness rather than light.Because Jesus said their deeds were evil. In otherwords we ARE of our Father Adam therefore we are of our father the devil.and the lust of our father we will do. That's why you got the manifestation of the blackened heart, People wonder How could two young boys be so wicked and evil That knowingly they would know how to manipulate certain things and get all their faculty and class mates outside the school house to were they knew the doors would be locked, and they would delibertly and Immeditately set and ambush of murder and harrow for their class mates.Jer said in chapter 17:9 "That the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, Who could know it?????" And then look at the manifestations of the black heart even at calvary 2000 years ago. . Here was a man who's only desired to heal,and yet the only desire those people had at Jerusalem that day was to heap pain upon the healer. The one who only put forth blessing . they were now cursing him. The one who had come all the way from Heaven to bring life , they were now angerly putting him to death. The one who came to give life, they were gladly taking his life. Spitting on him Crusen him , denying him, His very own had betrayed him for the price of a slave.,,,30 pieces of silver!!!!!. As was prophised in the Old Testament. One of his dearest friends denied ever knowing him.And his eternal Heavenly Father forsook him,,, Jesus Christ was taken into custody in the garden of Gethsemane. They led him to a set up mock trail on mt.zion, at the sanhedrin counsel at Caiaphas house the chief high priest. Religion was denying him, and religion is still denying him, proud and arrogant human hearts were denying him, and they still deny him., they found him guilty of blasphamey, and yet he is God almighty, How in the world can God deny himself????? How in the world can God blaspheme against himself. But they were sincere in their phariseeism, They sincerely thought they were serving God when they were condemning God. And it is sad for any minister or any child of God to see that that same scenario hold true 2000 years later ....When the masses of people, WHO have a form of godliness, but deny the authority there of.. People sit upon church pews across America on this palm Sunday and they readily lift their hand and their voice in song and praise and declare how they know him and love him, BUT IN LIFE and DEED they vehemently deny him. They had to get the Roman scansion there in Pallistine before they could kill him though, they wanted to stone him quickly that was their evil plan,They figured they would have him dead before the followers of Christ even got up that morning.!!!! But Pilate throw them a curve!!!!! When they went to Pilate over there at the north quarters of the grand temple there on Mt. Moriah in Jerusalem and some little aid woke him up and said we've got a problem with the locals here they got a religious fanatic that they are wanting to kill and they want you to say that,,,,,, Where is he from??? Well he is Jesus of Nazareth, Well Nazareth is in Galilee thats Herod's jurisdiction,,, I ain't gonna have nothing to do with that thing, tell them to take him over to Herod.,,,, So they took him to Herod, Herod said Boy I'll see something mighty today, ,,,,, You better believe that old boy !!!!! You're looking at the mighty one.!!!!!!. You're looking at the almighty one !!!!You're looking at the everlasting one ,,,, you're looking at the great I AM. He didn't come to Jerusalem that day to preform miracles and to put on a show for some ungodly earthly king,,,,,,He came into Jerusalem ,,,,,,not to reign upon a throne,,,, but to die upon a cross, and he didn't come as the lion of Juda in triumph, ,,,,, He came as the Lamb of God with Humility that he may die for the sins of the world. You owed a debt you could not pay, I owed a debt to God I could not pay ,,,,,But there was one who came to Bethelem ,,, the lamb of God,,,, and John Declared that he would take away the sin of the world,,,, and so there he was!!!!OHHHHHH Herod Got mad, "Now watch this!!!, You're not who I thought you were, and the jewish men of war the jewish soldiers that were there to guard the palace of Herod, and the king of the Jews and now they find out this man claimed to be the King of the Jews. So Herod with that old evil gene that he inherited from his granddad, He said ahhhhh!!! you want to be a King,,, we'll make you a King. And they started beating him up. and demonic powers raged in those men and around that scene, as they began to use and abuse the SON OF GOD. There was no lawyer to step forth to defend him, there was no one else to take his place. Ever civil right known to government from ancient times till now, was violated and thrown out the window, as they gathered around an innocent man and began to abuse him.without mercy and without definition, the things they probably heaped upon the Son Of God that morning. Now wounded and bleeding and beaten up he's lead back to Pilate. Pilate's wife had this dream and she said don't have anything to do with that righteous man. So Pilate said wait a minute ,,, we have examined this man and we find no fault in him. That didn't satisfy the chief and the high priest. They wanted him dead,,,,,, The Roman Empire,,,,,represented by the proctor in Palestine ,Pontius Pilate ;, Pontius Pilate said plainly I find no fault in him. And I say unto you I echo the words of Pontius Pilate this morning , there is absolutely , positively NO FAULT IN HIM. Now there is fault in us but there is no fault in him,, There's fault in baptist but there's no fault in him, There is a lot of fault in this preacher standing behind this pulpit, But there is no fault in the SoN Of God , The Lord Jesus Christ. He is perfect!!!!!!!
Pilate scourged him leaving behind 684 wounds, cuts,, tears and gashes in the body of the SoN Of God Everyone knows that in the Old Testament The lamb that was slain was falaided ,,, It was cut to pieces. The Bible says that Jesus Christ followed the pattern of the Old Testament priesthood, He was the high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek, King of Salem, KING OF PEACE!!! The chastisement of our peace was upon him!!!!!, and by his STRIPS WE ARE HEALED. And just as the Lambs in the Old testament were cut to pieces, to provide peace for those troubled souls in the turmoil of sin, The Lamb Of God was taken out there that Morning in Jerusalem, They hoisted him up on that old pole and they tonted the muscles and skin of his back, and he took your pain and my pain and he bore our sins on the old cross.ripped and flaided and flesh hanging off of him in ribbons, walking in a trail of his own precious blood. Evil people now take some old clothes they had gathered up and put them around his wounded and bleeding shoulders. They take an old bunch of thorns they had piled up there to build a fire, that why they were there they had them there to build a fire to keep warm. the third shift soldiers,had them there big old thorns ,the size of ten penny nails probably about like my forefinger there, petrubed out of those old vines and pieces of wood. piled up there to burn up in the fire to keep them warm, they'ed go over there and get those old heavy thrones and pile some of them upon his head,and get reeds and rods and start driving them down into the skull of the Son Of God. Those old things go through the skin,and bend up back against the skull and pertrud out, it was an awful thing ,Blood begins to run and drip all over his head. Isaiah Prophesied they had already pulled and plucked his beard out, their evil fist had swollen his face, beyond recognition and there he stands with those old thorns pressed down over his head in the form of a crown, there they are gathered around crying Hail King of the Jews. Boy their just a laughing, throwing old rags over his face and knocking him down without mercy,, stomping,, spitting,, cusing laughing,, making fun. over on the side there stands ,, invisable to them Michell and all the Royal forces of new Jerusalem, Jesus said I've got more than 12 legions of Angels at my desposeal. I want you to know, one little look toward old Michell and this earth would have been history, and you and I would have never been born. But the old priest said "He saved others He Cain't save himself" ,, You got that right, because if he had saved himself the whole world would have been lost. "He said "for this cause came I into this world, No man has the power to take my life, I have the power to lay it down and I have the power to take it up again. Wounded , , suffering,, bleeding ,, they had pronounced the death sentance finally. Pilate hears them when he says,what am I going to do with this man called Jesus???? They said crucify him, He said you can have one do you want me to crucify your KIng????? They said we have no King. They said "His blood be on our heads " Pilate said take ye then Him and Crucify him. But I find no fault in him. He runs around and whispers to a little aid "Give me a bason of water"And there that crowd it is in the morning It's about 8:or 8;15 in the morning and all the chief priest and that bunch had gathered all that crowd around. And there the Son of God stands before them, Isaiah say when we should see Him there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is lowley, He come into that town on palm Sunday,,, 2000 years ago ridding on a little donkey. Everybody knows that in that historical time that when a king goes out in power, to do battle or take vengeance, or judgment on his enemies. He would be riding on a horse, a horse, a stallion of war ,,trained to trample and destroy, and bring death, But when a king would go out to visit a nation in peace he would ride on a little donkey. signifying that he was coming with peace .,, and grace ,, and love,and unity, and humility,
Jesus told the disciples to down to Bethpage , and they would see a little donkey tied, untie him and bring him to me ,,and if the owner ask what they were doing Just tell Him "The Master hath need of him". And yonder 2000 years ago on this day that we commerate this morning, The creator of the world , the King of the universe, got on a little donkey, a rode down through the Kiddron valley, and up towards the eastern Gate, and as the crowds saw him coming they began to put palm branches in his path and cry Hosanna blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord. The King of Glory, Almighty God, was coming ,,,, Not to put down ,,, not to destroy ,, But to heal, and to give life and to give peace. Bless his Holy name.!!!!!!!
He came into town to die ,,,,He came into town to give life,,, He came into town so that new day we could go to Heaven to be with him.
Now lets get on with the conclusion of the message this morning.This is our text verse, We wont go into all the details of all the things they did to Him but they finally got him to the top of the Hill. And I want you to see this scene before we leave this morning. They get him up there and they spike him to that old rugged cross. I don't know how many of you have ever seen an example of those old spikes.The diameter was petty good size they wern't little nails , those old Roman spikes went through his rists, fasting him to that cross. They had taken his clothes off of him,pitched his sandles down the hill side. worn out and dusty as they were. They took the robe off of him,,,,and the soldiers said lets devide this thing.,,The robe , we wont get into that ,, but it was typical of the righteousness of Christ,,, they left it intact, and to fulfil prophesy they gambled for it,, the winner took it,,, They had already abused him and humiliated him so much,, and now they strip him,,,and gambled for his robe. When Devenchia painted the picture he gave Christ the credit and put a lowing clothe there,,,but there was no lowing clothe 2000 years ago,,at Golgothia,,, they hung him up there in shame.He wanted to show everybody He did it all.He didn't have nothing,,,nobody had mercy on him,,,nobody had pity on him.,,, and yet as he hung there, ,brused ,,wounded and bleeding,,shamed,,He looked out over that crowd that was gambling for his robe,,,,and said Father forgive them for they don't know what they are doing,,, and now he looks down and there is his mother,,,and his family and John,, Now I want you to put your self right there,,and I put myself right there,,, What if we were living in more of an ancient civilazation than we are today,,,and we got word one morning that our Son had been arrested,,and we went running down to the court house, the equivilant of the patorioum there or the federal courthouse it would be on equal terms of today. and you saw your son standing up there on a platform in front of a bunch of wild crazy angry mob,,, and you looked at his face and you could tell they had been beating on him,,an abusing an missuseing him and now you hear the sacnsion of the sentance "Crucify Him" and the death execution detail takes charge, They put and old cross on his sholders,,and they lead him out yonder to an old rocky hill,,,Up a very promant throughfare where the whole town could see him,,,, and when you git up there,, he's hanging ,,bleeding,,and helpless and nacked,,,and a crowd gathers around and says save yourself now ,, you're supposed to be the son of God. lets see ye come down ,,, we'll believe ye if ye will come off that cross right now. Had he come off that cross wouldn't nobody believe nothing. everybody would have went to hell.,,,, now he looks down there and there stands his mom, and there stands John,, and he says women behold your Son, ,, Then he said to John Behold your mother. John stands there that day Embrace his mother and comforts her all he can,, But in the shadow of LOVE JOhn sorrowed as LOve died,,,, write that down real quick "He sorrowed as LOVE died",,,,can you imagine old John loved Jesus so.,,,, John had been a disciple of John the Baptist, John 1&2 John was standing there at the river Jordon,,when Jesus showed up and John The baptist declared "Behold the Lamb Of God that taketh away the sins of the world."'' and your Bible teaches you and me that that very evening John followed Jesus Home,,,Jesus turned around as he went through the door of the little house over there at Capernaum, and there stood old John. Jesus said can I help you < and John said you are the only one who can. You want to come in a while???? John said that's why I followed you home.He went in and sat with him and talked, and from that moment on every where you see Jesus John is not far off. Turn back over to John 13 real quick before we go let me show you this,,, now there was leaning on Jesus bosom one of his disciples,' whom Jesus Loved" ,,v26 our text . standing by the disciple whom Jesus loved,,,, 20 :2 she runeth and cometh to Simon Peter and the other disciple whom Jesus loved."",,, 21:7 Therefore the disciple whom Jesus loved". Saith unto Peter it is the Lord. Can you imagine John's great love for Jesus and Jesus Great love for John.,,,And now it's about 3:00 in the afternoon and John is still standing in the shadow of LOVE, He's still got his arms about Mary the Mother, now Joseph of Armiathia comes up and says to Mary,, You can burry him in my new grave right down here, and that was in fulfillment of OLd Testament Prophecies also that said he would make he grave with the rich, But now in the shadow of LOVE ,,,, John sorrows as LOVE dies,,,John looks through tear filled eyes as Jesus says "Father into thy hands I commend my Spirit. Old John probably says Lord Ain't you gonna come off that cross,,,Ain't ye gonna save yourself ,,,Ain't ye gonna do something here,,, John watches as the darling face,, beaten and bleeding and swoolen of the Son of God,, He wouldn't even have regonized him had he not knew who he was. But now that head goes lifeless ,,That swollen tongue as dried like a potshard, Psa 22. drops out of his mouth, there's no breathing, no respiration , no circulation, He's Dead, John and Mary the Mother looks up there from the shadow of love ,, and they sorrow as LOVE Dies on that old rugged cross of calvary that day.
Now the soldiers are coming,, it's coming the sabbath passover, they gota have the bodies off the cross,, so that centurion orders the men to break the legs of the one thief,,so he would die, he would suffocate in his own body fluids, and be dead in a matter of minutes. They break his legs ,, he slumps down on the cross ,, He cain't get up to get the pressure off his thoraxics area and his lungs go into great distress,, his heart litterly almost bust, ,, so the old thief dies, and that one Christ rejecting thief dies an went to hell without God....now the execution detail those around that middle cross,, they look up there and think him dead anyway, they get to that other man on the other side, and the old repentant thief looked ,as he looked down He knows death is coming,,, And he knows death is lapping up about his legs.,, he glances back over to the middle man on the cross ,, and there he was already dead, but latter on earlier that morning,,probably about 10:00 that morning,,, the thief had looked over there , and said "Lord remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom". and he heard the Lord say "Today thou shalt be with me in paradise". So as that old soldier put that old spear up between his legs,, and cocked it just right around his knees,, and another soldier joined him and when tandem they shoved on that spear The knees came out of socket. and the little fibs busted,,, and his legs went down and the old repentant thief began to die. But he looked over there and standing without stretched arms , said see I told you today you would be with me in paradise.OH!!!!!!! THe soul slipped out of that OLd body of that old murderer and Jesus escorted him right into the glories of paradise. Thank God you receive the Lord you'll go to Heaven on this Easter, you reject the Lord you'll go to hell this Easter. Just as sure as your name is what it is today.
Now the centurion was trained in death,,,He was in charge of execution,,He looked an saw that Jesus was dead very plainly,, he had benn scrounged ,, he had been abused, he had been in shock , he suffered, HE WAS DEAD!!!!!! A christian pathologist once said that if Christ was not God in the flesh, he would have been dead long time before he ever got to 3:00 in the afternoon,, He's DEAD. Can you imagine now children,, old John standing in the shadow of LOVE....His heart shaddered, He's trying to comfort the mother, and they are looking up there at that cross,,, now here comes Joseph of Armithia with a couple of his men,,Nickodemus had been down at the temple and bargained for the body, they got permission from Rome to take charge of the remains of Jesus Christ.So they come with the official papers and tell the soldiers ,, we got charge of the remains. Old Joseph of Armithia puts the ladder up there, and goes to climbing rung by rung,,,,,gits up there beside the dead Lamb Of God,,,takes an old crowbar type of thing and gits it behind that old big spike and yanks and pulls,,and the blessed hand goes limp and lifeless,, John sees the deep and ugly wound ,,,they free the other hand they free the feet. I don't know ,, I could only suppose.,,, I'd say John walked over there under them and offered his shoulder he said I LOVE THAT MAN!!!!! drop him down on my shoulder,, now the lifeless body of the Son of God Limp and dead and cold goes over the shoulder of John,, He reaches up to get a grip an his hand goes all the way into his side,,,where the Blood and The Water came out from his heart..Mary came running down the hill and John said mother I've got him,,, The other ladies gather around weeping and wailing ,, they walked down the little grassy hill. ,,Joseph of Armithia guide them in to where the new tomb was.John walks down the little steps and in the darkened shadows of that tomb,, He gets down on his knees and lays the body over on that slab They all gather around ,, it's probably about 4:30 they have about 1and 1/2 hours till the sabbath begins,, They tried their best to prepare the body the best they could,,, In the shadow of love ,, he sorrowed as love died,,,, Then secondly he sees love raise,,, cause he came Sunday morning and found the grave clothes were just an empty shell.,,, Told old Peter saying "He's Alive"!!! And from that point on John got to telling everybody, love won ,,, If you ever get in the shadow of LOVE,,If you ever get into the shadow of that cross, like Fanny Crosby said,,,," Keep me in the shadow of the cross" ,,, It will reveloutionize your life.It will change your soul,!!!!!! it will change your spirit, !!!!!!it will change you heart!!!!!!! it will change your talk!!!!! it will change your !!!!!! It will change everything about you,,,, I f you will just kneel in the shadow of love this morning you will never be the same,,,,,hypocrites wont bother you any more,,,long tongue church people wont bother you anymore,,,, and how can anybody waste valuable time that God has given us, Jesus Said "I must work the work that God has given me, For the night cometh when man's work is done, when no man can work . how can anybody waste time wolling around , grumbling and complaining,,,when there is so much heart ache and trouble, ,,, I'll tell you what ,,, you get cancer in your body, and you near the old Jordon river ,,, I'll ganrantee you you will want to be standing in the shadow of LOVE. You get news that one of your children is laying out there in Intensive care unit,,and they have been involved in a horrible accident,,,,you wont be so quick to start mumbling and grumbling about how low down sorry everybody is.,,,or how everybody else don't do what you think they should, ,,, You love Jesus and you live for Jesus you wont have time for all that ignorance, Praise the Lord!!!!!! life is to short ,, Time is to valuable to be wasted out here on nothing,,,when we've got everything. John said OHHHHHH!!!!!!! when you know the love of God,He said "Behold what manner of love., ,, Cause he stood under that cross, and sorrowed as love died ,,, but then he sees LOVE raise.,,, and then he sees his LOVES prize, and we're done. you say what you talking about????? buddy I'll tell you what,,, He pleased God. and one day on a Sunday they had done kicked him plum out of society,, put him out on the isle of Patomus ,,, he was over there on the Lord's day,, and he got to remembering this is the day that the LOrd hath made this is the day that I stood under the shadow of love. This is the day when I saw him die,,,this is the day when I saw him raise,, you see every day is a cellabration, every day is a potinual power house for God Almighty ,,, You don't have to wait out there for the end day Honey,,,, Thanks be to God which giveth us the victory, through our Lord Jesus Christ <Now so make it fresh , It ain't some old historic relics of 2000 years ago , The cross is more fresh today than this mornings sunrise. and may it always be powerful in our mind and on our life. Man he got in the Spirit on the Lord's day and here come his Lord, he heard a voice behind him, he turned and seen he was the same one he saw there at the Jordon river,,,he was the same one he saw die on the cross,,,,he is the same one he saw on resurrection evening, but now he's got white hair flaming eyes,, and a voice that sounds like thunder and many waters,,, OHHHH!!!My goodness jOhn fell at his feet as a dead man ,,, And he said "Don't worry John, put his hand on him and said "I am He who was dead, and behold I'm alive for ever more,, come a trolling with me honey, I want to show you something ,,,,WELL PRAISE THE LORD"!!!!!! AND HE SAW A 1500 MILE HIGH PEARLY HIGH GATE, AND JESUS STROLLED HIM INSIDE THAT GATE AND THEY WAS WALKING ON GOLDEN AVENUE, HE SHOWED HIM THE THRONE OF ALMIGHTY GOD.
