| Winter's Last Hurrah |
| It's the last week of April, 2002 and despite what the Weather Channel said about winter having ended, snow persists up in the mountains. Snowfall the night before has left a Christmas card look to a couple of condominiums and to evergreens. Somewhere in one of those rooms, coffee must be brewing this time of the morning. And in other rooms, some children might be scurrying to put on their snow shoes and grabbing their skis, wanting to make a couple more runs down the slopes before an insistent Sun melts all the white away because it's Spring, or haven't the mountains heard? |
| The Olympians have all left... home to their respective countries with their medals and memories. And all that is left are silent ski lifts... There is a ghostly stilness all around, except for the wind that sometimes whispers to the as yet bare trees. |
