"Come In From The Rain..."
Nothing evokes melancholy more than a downpour, except perhaps a black & white photograph of a rainy afternoon.

I wonder what wet feet and shivering,
shriveled fingertips have, to bring out the sentimental side in people?

And who can tell?  Maybe that woman
with an umbrella really would rather
reminisce while standing on the corner
than brave the rain.
"Kundiman..."
She sang Kundiman (native Filipino love song) in a five-star hotel in Makati, the Philippines.
The daughter of another singer of Kundiman songs who, along with three other women and three men,  belonged to a group that performed nothing but Filipino love songs, in a time of techno pop and rave music.
On their performance nights, she and her mother's group alternated  on stage, the women resplendent in their richly-embroidered Filipina "terno" dresses, the men in their equally richly-embroidered Barong Tagalog (Filipino National Shirt).
To see her, and other young singers (pictured below) who were devoted to reviving the lost "art of the Kundiman," perform is to be transported back in time, when Filipino values were held in such high esteem that a suitor will not even dare to touch a  sweetheart's  fingertips...
Unfortunately, the hotel's new owners did not feel as passionately about the Kundiman and stopped the performances.  Could it be because they were not Filipinos and could not identify with the sentiments? Or that the outlets where these singers performed were no longer  profitable because so few "modern" Filipinos still cared for the old songs?
"Sing To Me Only
With Thine Eyes..."
Looking at her eyes while she sings, one would be led to believe that all the words of love she's saying are true, and heartfelt.

Thus, it is easy to fall for her.

But then again, who am I to question why "fools fall in love in a hurry, fools give their hearts much too soon..."?
