Teaching Method Books

Literature in Lives: (Allen Carey-Webb) This book describes the reader response and cultural studies theories of teaching English.  Also has great links and ideas for teaching.

Room 109: (Richard Kent) Helps teachers figure out to run a portfolio based, student led classroom.

Clearing the Way, Working with Teenage Writers: (Tom Romano) Romano is what every teacher should aspire to be.  He gives ideas, strategies, and theories on how he reached his success.   This philosophy is workable in the classroom, and allows room for movement

Seeking Diversity: (Linda Rief) Rief has the best resource in her classroom, her students.  She learns just as much from them as they do from her.  Her whole philophy and lesson plans revolve around her students, which leads to great success.

Caught in the Middle, Nonstandard Kids and a KillingCurriculum: (can't rememember) Working on this one now, pretty good, add more soon.

In The Middle, Nancie Atwell. How to run a reading and writing workshop in a middle school classroom.  Includes ideas on how to structure and run your classroom.
