Society's Disillusionment

The moon was lost in the endless sky

The sun sat alone amongst the silent day

The wind was still in the echoing streets

As a man wept with no words to say

Faces froze into constant bitterness

Loves was tossed with the discarded trash

Hate stood strong upon his preaching soapbox

Hoping love and fear would clash

Minds no longer thought alone

Conformity took over the heart

Individuality got lost in the growing crowd

And families were torn apart

Lovers no longer made love

Sisters could share no bond

Man and woman fought against each other

And the innoscent claimed the wrong

Music made no harmony

Birds ceased to sing

The past became a clouded vision

Anxiety is all the future brings

Depression became normal

Happiness was plagued as odd

Ignorance was a valued heirloom

Even love became a fraud

This is societys disillusionment

Cynics are left to ponder this

If we are never to know love or joy

How can be love and joy be what we miss
