| The sixth technology facilitation standard states that educational technology facilitators should possess competency in the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in P-12 schools. This particular standard encompasses a wide scope of topics which are absolutely necessary to educational technology. One specific competency, TF-VI.E., is especially important to me because it addresses the facilitation of equitable access to technology resources for all students. The amazing educational possibilities technology provides should be made available to any and every student. No student should ever be excluded from a learning opportunity. The artifacts I have included are a Webliography of resources on inclusion and a PowerPoint presentation on the assistive technologies that are available through the Microsoft Corporation. I created the Webliography for Technology in the Special Education Curriculum. This artifact demonstrates my competency in this standard because I was able to locate various resources available on the Internet on the inclusion of special needs students. By completing this task, I have effectively applied technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities. The second artifact, a PowerPoint presentation on assistive technologies, was created for Introduction to Educational Technology. This artifact further demonstrates my competency in this standard because I have properly identified and recommended adaptive/assistive hardware and software for students and teachers with special needs. Furthermore, I presented the information by utilizing a powerful piece of software, Microsoft PowerPoint. Both of the artifacts I have included are wonderful resources that any effective technology facilitator should possess. These resources may be distributed to colleagues and parents interested in obtaining information about the before-mentioned topics in education. Yet, these resources, to maintain their effectiveness, must continually be updated based on changing laws and trends in technology. I will continue to alter their content and also create other resources in different content areas to remain proficient with this standard. |
