Ideas to Consider for Reaching the One

Show concern for each individual young woman.
* Love every girl and know her name, her birthday, her likes and dislikes, her successes, and her problems. Attend some of her extracurricular activities.
* Make an effort in every meeting and activity to include everyone, youth and adult, and make each feel welcome and comfortable. If shes not there, then take her a handout or something from the lesson or activity and let her know that she was missed.
* Look for opportunities to seek out less-active YW and to reach out to those who are new or do not yet belong. Encourage active YW to friendship the less-active ones, not only at church, but also at school and other places. Encourage them to pray for them too.
* Keep in touch with the girls by phone calls, letters, brief visits at church, casual meetings, visits in her home with her family, and thoughtful acts.

Use meetings to discuss activation.
* Remember that one of the major purposes of every meeting is activation; include it on each agenda.
* Plan activities and lessons in the class presidency meeting to reach less-active YW.
* Take the names of less-active YW to stewardship meetings and discuss plans their involvement, accomplishments, and plans for activation.

Use available resources for reaching the one.
* Use the YW program to involve ALL the YW.
* Use the scriptures in your meetings to teach a principle and to se the spirit for the meeting.
* Make a specific effort to improve the quality of lessons and activities.
* Become well acquainted with all approved YW resources and refer to them often to answer questions and stimulate new ideas.
* Invite your bishopric and stake YW leaders to give regular instruction in activation and motivation skills to ward leaders.
* Request home teachers and visiting teachers, through the ward correlation council, to assist in reaching the less-active YW.

Use records to measure activation
* Record each young womans activity in such areas as attendance, seminary enrollment, talks given, personal progress, bishopric interviews, service projects, camp, and activities.
* Use records in meetings to measure progress, make plans for activation, and evaluate previous efforts.

Prepare yourself adequately so that you can receive inspiration and help to effectively activate youth.
* Work on self-improvement and personal testimony concerning your call and the YW program.
* Consider how you feel about each young woman. Consider the time you spend in the YW program as it relates to the priorities you have for affecting the lives of each young woman under your stewardship. Set priorities to make sure your efforts are directed to areas that bring the most results.
* Set both personal and presidency goals concerning activation and record them.
* Share ideas and testimonies with other leaders concerning efforts made toward activation.
* Seek a personal testimony of the YW program. Seek a strong, personal testimony of Jesus Christ.
* Work, study, and pray for diving help. When you are on the Lords errand, you are entitled to the Lords help, President Monson said.
* Never give up; endure to the end!
