Yahoo Messenger - The two developers of Yahoo!, David Filo and Jerry Yang, Ph.D. candidates in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University, started their guide in April 1994 as a way to keep track of their personal interests on the Internet. A sleek little software application from the people behind the most popular search engine in the world. These guys won't let you down. Since all Yahoo mail users can use the same id on Yahoo! Messenger the service has a good subscription base. The user interface is friendlier than MSN messenger. You can of course make free voice calls to the US through it. Instant messaging allows you to quickly exchange messages with your online friends. |
| ICQ - I Seek You. A tiny Israeli company has taken the Internet by storm. ICQ is the hottest thing on the web. Mirabilis was founded in July 1996 when four young Israeli avid-computer users established a new Internet company. The mission was the technology which would enable the Internet users to locate each other online on the Internet, and to create peer-to-peer communication channels, in a straight forward, easy, and simple manner. They pioneered this technology, that way opening a whole new industry. ICQ is a very powerful, feature-rich IM, with hundreds of secondary services and plugins. It would be fair to call it a communication portal in itself. |
