| Facts About Faculty Faculty members belonging to the Department of Sociology and Social Work recognize that the world of academics is no longer a secure ivory tower where one goes for escape or to nurse ones wounds in private. The nitty gritty realities of the outside world seep into academia only too often. There is a constant intermingling of approaches and disciplines because issues of a contemporary world overlap. The problems faced by rural women, for example, may be related to the environment in some way. Disease may be a result of poverty and illiteracy. For these reasons, our faculty members welcome into their midst their contemporaries from other related fields like Social & Preventive Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychology, Law, Business Management and Commerce. Regardless of this diversity, however, all teachers have something in common. They are dedicated and dynamic. They teach compassion and tolerance by example. They know that charity is not merely the dropping of a coin into an outstretched hand. Goodwill is, rather, a whole-hearted extension of the self, and of all possible help to make another person's life happier and a little more meaningful. Honed at the hands of such experts, students emerge well-versed in all aspects of social work. |

| Prophets of Nature, we to them will speak A lasting impression, sanctified By reason, blest by faith: what we have loved, Others will love, and we will teach them how; Instruct them how the mind of man becomes A thousand times more beautiful than the earth On which he dwells, above this frame of things ...
