Nove Tocco was born into Detroit's first family of crime in 1947. His mother Josephine was the daughter of underworld powerhouse Joseph Zerilli and his father Paul Joseph was a distant relative of Black Bill Tocco. Nove was introduced to the partnership in 1966 when at the age of 19 when his uncle Anthony Zerilli took him to Las Vegas and put him to work as an errand boy. For the next 8 years Nove would learn the ways of the outfit and help out with the collection of debts owed to his uncle and his partner Michael Polizzi. Nove's Vegas adventure ended with his uncle's conviction for hidding his ownership of the Frontier Hotel and Casino in 1972.
