Erroll Flynns

1970s

Led by Stan Cherry, Donald Ray Williams, Tommy and Greg Nix and Frank "Nitty" Cunningham, the Errol Flynns were unmatched in terms of membership numbering in the area of 400 teenage men and women at their peak. Jealously guarding the area between Mack (North) and Jefferson (South) and Mt. Elliot (West) and Conner (East), the Errol Flynn's were greatly feared and respected by rival gangs of the era. Members engaged in a long list of offense ranging from murder, to robbery to assault. During the summer of 1977 the Flynns engaged the Sheridan strips in a bloody encounter which undoubtably would have raged on through the summer had the Cobo incident not aroused public ire resulting in a massive crackdown on their activity. Most of the gangs activity was centered around Kercheval which they held in check through a system of terror and intimidation. Many Flynn members remain behind bars today
