A Zelda Poem Page

I stumbled accros this beutiful poem on a HTLOZ Message Board.

When Will the Last Leaf Fall?

(This poem is in the first person perspective of Link)

Malevolent forces drew me near,
To the inaudible sound,
No one could hear,

My sword in my hand,
I sauntered, not ran,
To the light just ahead,
I didn't fear it, just dread,

Through the forest I ambled along,
In my throat a frog,
And in my head a song,

The Light was a figure with exqusite grace,
As I walked forward,
To see her face,

When I gazed into her sparkling eyes,
I saw the truth,
Not all the lies,

With the sound of thunder,
And a pounding crash,
A malicious person tore off her sash,

As quick as a snake,
As elusive as a scout,
She cast a 'flying' spell to get herself out,

Soon he was gone,
And with a few slashes,
I know she was wrong,

That trust in her eyes,
The eyes that spoke,
This was all lies,
And clearly a joke,

Tears down her face,
And  blood on the wall,
I thaught I knew her,
But I knew nothing at all,

I hear the evils coming,
We better leave here soon,
And as we start our leaving,
I start to hear that tune,

The hum was getting stronger,
As we walked ahead,
The melody got longer,
As the Princess started to dread,

This is what I saw,
Saw in her lovely eyes-the truth,
Not all the lies,

"Have you been telling the truth?" I asked,
"Come on now,
Don't be aloof!"

"Sorry 'bout my cheery voice,
The night ain't happy,
Very icy; It's not my choice!"

Suddenly the song came near,
She held my hand,
In pure fear,

I comforted her, and held her tight,
It wasn't an evil,
But it was a sight,

The fairy there,
Was in a cage,
I could feel my mind in spiteful rage,

I broke the lock and set it free,
It didn't leave,
It stayed with me,

Suddenly, without any warning,
The rain came pouring,
And the fairy started mourning,

With the puff of some smoke,
And a glimmer of Light,
The most evil of evils came into sight,

He took my sword away,
Why now, why me?
How could THIS be happy,

I looked bach at he princess's glory,
She told the truth,
The truth not to worry,
My fairy told me to hurry,

My fairy cast a magical beam,
It did much less that one would seem,
So she gave the evil a powerful gleem,

I got my sword with a powerful leap,
Trying to kill,
Slashing the evil till a deep sleep,

I couldn't give up,
My love's on the line,
I felt like i was wrapped in a ball full of twine!

I'm completely stuck in this place,
But I couldn't let go,
To her sparkling face,

I raced to the floor,
Grasping the tiny hand,
I lost my littly fairy,
In this new land,

He was too strong,
Stronger that I,
We made a treaty,
The fight was a tie,

I rushed to the Princess, into her arms,
I was relieved when I found,
That he was not harmed,

A passionate kiss was exchanged in an instant,
Twas way overdue,
But I am glad she was persistant,

We were soon wed,
Like a happy couple should,
I was the King, like my fairy said I should,

A daughter my fair Queen had,
Cerene, we named her,
We raised a happy baby,
Always happer, never sad,

The child married Sir Tobias,
A fine leader indeed,
But Queen Zelda saw in Tobias,
The hungriness for greed,

My fair wife was right,
The sorrow that we felt,
When he stood up,
And we knelt,

He got angry one day,
And had to let it out with a stave,
So he took MY lovely Zelda,
Straight to the grave,

She screamed in agonizing pain,
But I was too late,
All that Tobias says,
Is "It was just plain fate",

I ruled for long without my love,
I gave her a rose,
And burried her,
to show her she is what I think of,

She sleeps under the maple tree,
That shades for always her coffin,
That all came to see,

I look out in Autumn, towards the Northern Wall,
And when I see the everlasting Maple Tree,
I'll always wonder,
When will the last leaf fall?
