| Kid Braxton formed in late 1995 out of the ashes of riley, playing in Roanoke, Virginia until August of 1998. The core members were the same as that of riley, Jinks, Jacob and Marc, but early on there was a fourth member, Keith Harrison, who though only involved breifly, actually suggested the use of the name braxton, from a favorite rancid song. The trio introduced a newer, poppier melodic sound than that of their preceeding project's darker, more experimental noisy sound. Though creative differences plagued the band throughout it's exsistance, and eventually lead to the bands dimise in 1998, KB managed to attract a loyal following. KB strove to create a place within the Roanoke punk community where anyone, regardless of age, race, sexual orientation or "punk" status could come to enjoy not only their music, but participate in communication and discourse in a safe, healthy enviroment. Through the outstanding work of Marc Hodges and his Project Kitty Collective, KB was fortunate enough to travel around the Virginia/DC area and play with bands such as Boy Sets Fire, Floor, Wolfpac, the Classifieds, the Skunks, Swank, Rectal Pus, Supression, Equity, the peetanks, Funsize, Less than Jake, Algebra 1, Simpleton and many others. They band came very close in 1997 to signing with Grass Records, but due to increasing creative and personal problems, this was never pursued. Just as it seemed Kid Braxton had really begun to carve a niche in the increasingly devicive Roanoke scene of the mid and late 90's and to establish their own true sound, fast, melodic and increasingly aggressive, personal problems that could not be resolved overcome all the progress they had made forced the band, like so many others, to go their separate ways. Jacob sends mad love and thanks to all the members and fans of KB throughout the years who made that part of my life the most exciting (and dramatic) part of my life. Keep rocknfucknrollin Roanoke! | |||||||||||||||
