“The art of war teaches us to rely not on the likelihood of the enemy’s not coming, but on our own readiness to receive him; not on the chance of his not attacking, but rather on the fact that we have made our position unassailable”

SecUp – Secure File Uploader

Abstract:

In this age of universal electronic connectivity, of electronic eavesdropping and electronic fraud, there is indeed no time at which security does not matter. This in turn, has led to a heightened awareness of the need to protect data and resources from disclosure, to guarantee the authenticity and integrity guarantee of data and messages, and to protect systems from network-based attacks. Major change that affected security is the introduction of distributed system and the use of networks and communications facilities for carrying data between terminal user and computer and between computer and computer.

Today’s Organizations have evolved from static and location dependent architecture to mobile architecture, providing higher job satisfaction and lower initial cost of infrastructure. In organization with mobile architecture, employees can work from their home or any other place where there is no direct connectivity available to organizations’ internal network. In this situation, there is an immediate need for securing data transmission from public domain terminal (like Cyber cafe) to private (like internal company terminals)

SecUp is aimed to provide Peer-to-peer security for uploading files from computer that is ‘outside trusted’ network (like Cybercafé), to a computer in ‘trusted’ one (organizational Computer). SecUp implementation is on time tested, platform independent standard i.e. J2EE. It uses component-based approach to build highly reliable, Fault Tolerant and truly distributed system. It makes use of J2EE component technology – EJB (Enterprise Java Bean). This technology features components that are platform and vendor independent, location Independent and Secured.
