Harlem Beat:
As said on the main page... Harlem Beat is a manga by Yuriko Nishiyama about streetball and basketball.
Harlem Beat follows the adventures of Nate Torres (Tohru Naruse), a freshman in high school and his friends. Nate was a quitter... a wimp and a wuss, not good at anything. Until he found streetball. And thus, he gets in a streetball team with Mizzy(Mizuki), his childhood friend who introduced him to basketball; Kyle(Kohsuke), a big tough neglected guy; and Masahiro, a 3-point shooter who likes money and has a tough past. And soon he finds himself on the school basketball team, playing with Shurman(Sakurai), Nate's basketball hero; Kobayashi, a quiet samurai; and as well as Kim(Kiriko), the evil manager of the Johnan basketball team.
There are 29 volumes out (29 being the last one) in Japan. It was first seen on Weekly Shonen Magazine. In America currently, 1 through 9 is out, 10 and 11 is skipped entirely, and starting from 12, HB got a new name of "Rebound". The 9th volume of Rebound (20th Harlem Beat) will be released this August from Tokyopop.
Air:
There was a Harlem Beat artbook published in 1999, of collected artworks by Yuriko Nishiyama, called Air. Well... I decided to name this site after it. Because even if there was no such artbook, it woulda been a great name, because of Nate(Narucho)'s certain special ability...
Harlem Beat is definately one of my favorite favorite manga, and seeing that it's so unpopular in the United States, I always wanted to make a website about HB. Um.. I already did. But. Tokyopop tricked me. Sob. Most of the stuff I wrote about was not entirely true. So I ditched it. And made this fanlisting. Ta-duh.
Layout:
This layout features a piece of artwork from the Harlem Beat artbook by Yuriko Nishiyama. I just fixed up some random stuff on Photoshop(I'm no expert) and using Mapedit changed it into a map-image thing. Font used is Broken 15.
