WELCOME SPEECH
PRESIDENT JICA ALUMNI MALAYSIA

Irashaimase Mina San, Welcome to the Web pages of JICA Alumni Society of Malaysia.

I am particularly delighted to note that since its inception in 1988, the society has managed to undertake the setting up of its own Web pages when it was still in the infancy stage. Not many organisations are capable of doing this and managing it is also a daunting task. It is a very promising step undertaken to coordinate the aim and functions of the society. With this Web pages, it is hoped that information regarding the society and its activities could be disseminated to members quickly and economically. At the same time it is also opened to ex-participants and other visitors.

The society was formed in 1988 by ex-participants of the training programs organised by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). JICA being a Japanese Government Organisation was established with the purpose of contributing to the economic and social development in developing economies and promoting international cooperation. With globalisation it is a truism to say that nations are mutually interdependent in all areas of development, especially in the management of the economy and technology. In this context, JICA have been providing economic and development assistance to Malaysia. The multifarious type of training course made available to Malaysia by JICA have inevitably produced a positive impact in many areas of public domain. More than 6,000  ex-participants have benefited from the program todate.

The society is also one of the medium of promoting an effective communication and linkage between JICA and ex-participants. There are links between the society and other societies formed in the respective countries. Ex-participants could communicate through the Alumni of each country and with this homepage, access to information regarding ex-participants in Malaysia will be made more accessible.

It is hoped that everyone will benefit from our homepage. Please feel free to browse through the web pages and please do not hesitate to give constructive comments and ideas. If you or your colleagues are ex-participants of the JICA programs and are not members of the society, please contact us.

Thank You.

Mohamed Razif Kamarudin
President,
JICA Alumni Society of Malaysia.
