Shen Yinmo
(1883-1971)
Shen Yinmo was a master calligrapher, renowned poet, and distinguished scholar. Shen was born on June 11th, 1883.  After briefly studying in Japan, Shen went to Peking University, in 1913, where he served as Professor of Literature for next sixteen years. In 1929, Shen became  director of the Education Bureau of Herbei Province and, in 1932,  became the president of Beiping University. From 1932 to 1939, Shen worked as director of the Sino-French Cultural Exchange and Publishing Commission based in Shanghai. From 1939 to 1946,  he worked for Kuoming Government. In 1960, Shen became the first director of the Shanghai Society of Chinese Calligraphy and Seal-carving, as well as  deputy director of the Central Academy of Culture and History. Shen died on June 1th, 1971, at the age of 88..
