Let's Have a Party . . . Anarchy Style!!

Before I go into my topic for this piece, let me give a brief introduction into human history. For eons, humans have banded together to live in organized societies as a means of survival. Humans cannot live in anarchy, its simply unnatural. Even cavemen had some semblance of government. They lived in fairly organized tribes where usually the strongest member was the leader, the head honcho. Since then, humanity has just become more and more organized due to technological advancements, influences from other cultures, so on and so forth. Also, whenever governments topple a new one is formed. Never has there been a period where some laws did not apply and absolutely no one was in charge. You may say "What about riots and revolutions?" Well, riots are somewhat anarchical, but the only change that has occurred is that people are destroying property and looting everything, (bringing me back to the whole counterproductive issue) and the government has lost temporary control. In the end, order is always restored, and those responsible are persecuted. Also, when revolutions occur, one form of government is exchanged for another (if successful, that is), sometimes violently (American, French, Russian, etc), sometimes peacefully (like in India). Well, when you really boil it down, not only is anarchy unnatural, its flat out impossible. Governments will always be formed in the presence of anarchy in order to combat that very same thing.

Essentially, it is human nature to form governments. As stated earlier, some hierarchical society has always been present in nature, especially with humans. To have a society where no rules apply is simply against our own impulses. Also, I have very little faith in humans as a people to believe that, in an anarchical society, that everyone will work for the good of humanity. Instead, we are too selfish to look beyond what an individual needs or wants. Rather than settling down after the transfer to anarchy, people will simply just loot, kill and steal what they need. Essentially, anarchy is a completely hedonistic idea, which only exists in an ideal world where everyone would behave morally. Alas, this is not an ideal world, it is a real world, where real people will take advantage of the lack of rules and authority to do whatever they please. Unfortunately, this also means that people can kill one another without any sort of repercussions. If you want a more visual representation of what an anarchical world would look like, go watch Escape from New York or Escape from L.A. with Kurt Russell. That is probably the best vision of what the world would be like. The strong and ruthless would be in charge, taking what they want and doing as they please. This brings me to my next point, that anarchy is completely counterproductive.

Anarchists and those who associate with the beliefs of anarchists think that it is the solution to mankind's problems. I'm sorry to say that it is not, due to the fact that under an anarchical society, nothing would be accomplished, period. You can't seriously believe that anything can be done while under anarchy. Just look at Russia a few years ago. In trying to switch over to Democracy, they incurred a natural period of anarchy where everything they had crumbled. Russian society has dwindled into poverty and mob rule while in this period of anarchical bedlam. Just imagine what the whole world would be like if we all were stuck in anarchy forever. Everything would be undone. Since governments would be abolished, almost absolute power would belong to those with the means by which to control people, namely the mob. Anarchy is humankind at its worst. There is no upside to chaos.

But hey, as long as you're doing ok, who cares about that poor schmuck dying on the sidewalk?
