Math Department Policy

- Homework is an important part of learning and will thus be treated in such a manner
- Each occurance of homework incomplete or no done to the teachers satisfaction will be noted(A mark
will be generated to coincide with teachers policy)
-Homework is worth 10% of a students grade.

Class Policy

-Homework is an "all or none" situation (if all but evan the last question is done then it is considered "homework NOT done")

- If a student cannot complete homework, a parent/guardians signature will be sufficient to keep a student from being considered not having homework done. (A note is not necessary. Just one signature for all questions that are not done. Not one for each question) (This is still recorded as "homework not done with parents signature"  -  for my records only and will not be credited for or against any homework mark generated for the student)

- If a sufficient amount of work is done AND a parent has signed the homework then it will be considered homework done (new 07-08   - Thank you to the student who mentioned this to me)

Rational for class policy
When homework is incomplete (or not done), it is important for parents/guardians to know. If  a parent indicates that they do  know homework is incomplete by signing  their childs homework, then I am satisfied that homework has been or will be dealt with.

The "all or none" situation is adhered to because some students do part of their work in class, leave out some and then  use the excuse that it was too difficult while at the same time the text did not make it home. (thus the parents signature rule allows for such difficulty). No excuse for missing/incomplete homework is acceptable. ONLY a parent/guardians signature will keep a student from marks being lost due to incomplete homework.
