| Here are some general search areas and good stuff like that for you. This is not full of any real current events, like bombings and stuff; I don't have enough time to lay that out for you. Go to the website. Email me if you think that something is dreadfully missing that should be added. | ||||||||||
| Newspapers | ||||||||||
| Everett Herald- www.heraldnet.com- Our (Everett area) local newspaper. It should be looked at if you want local stuff. Seattle PI- www.seattlepi.com- This is a good source for current news; has quite a bit of international information because it comes out of a major city. New York Times- www.nytimes.com- Just as it says. NY Times website. Follow the links once you get there to find the international section. If you are too lazy to do that, you can go to: www.nytimes.com/pages/world/index.html. The Washington Times- www.washingtontimes.com USA Today- www.usatoday.com Washington Post- www.washingtonpost.com - Pretty close to the above; just a different source. LA TImes- www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/- The LA Times World website. Again, you can go to the LA Times regular website for US stuff:, www.latimes.com. | CNN: World: http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/- Nice little link to CNN stuff. Asia: http://asia.cnn.com/ Europe: http://europe.cnn.com/- Source of current European info. Not as detailed as some other sources, but still has a nice overview. ABC World News- http://abcnews.go.com/sections/world/- More info, but also a little bit general. Nice overview, also has some information about international entertainment as well. MSNBC- www.msnbc.com- So much on this link to all areas of the world. You can find some good stuff if you look, but be prepared to wade through a lot of information first. Also has links to pictures of the week which are not only cool, but good for projects and stuff like that. News Synthesis- www.newssynthesis.com- While you have never heard of this before, it is a wonderful collection of listings to international papers and foreign newspapers. |

| Magazines | ||||||||||
| While there are a million different magazines, here are some of the more popular ones that you've most likely heard of. | ||||||||||
| Time- World: www.time.com/time/world- Who hasn't heard of Time magazine? Actually includes a little bit less than you might think; ok for current stuff. Go to their website if you want more back issues. There are also some nice links there as well. US News- www.usnews.com/usnews/home.htm: Has quite a bit of cultural information in it. Mostly about US foreign policy to the world. The New Republic: www.thenewrepublic.com: Mostly people's opinions on what is going on in current events; some well-known politcal analysts give their opinions here as well. National Review: www.nationalreview.com: Obviously a review of the country. Not so much news stuff, but culture as well. Only US cultural information. The Nation: www.thenation.com: Lots of political commentaries. Tends to focus on one or two topics. Weekly Standard:www.weeklystandard.com: Political commentary day-by-day for the last week for whatever happened on that day. Newsday- World: www.newsday.com: Nice. Brittanica Online: www.brittanica.com: Not exactly a magazine, but it is a good source because it links you up to magazines, newspaper articles, and websites that are actually relevant (!) that have to do with your topic. Hard part is phrasing your search correctly, so don't get frustrated if you don't find what you want right away. |
