A Lesson in Phonics)


Down a dusty rode, 
whair tha crossrodes meat,
I got my edjukashun.
  wun that kant be bete.
In a wun rume skulehowse,
  I spint my yunger daz,
lurnin my ABC's, 
an' aul thos sity waz.

Lurnin, fur me, caim eze.
I ges 'cuz I'm so smart.
I wun a spechal plas,
in my teechur's hart.
I lurned tu reed an' rite.
Spelen wuz a brez.
I cud werk math praublums,
with tha gratist of ez.

I wuz tha teechur's pet.
Faverd abuv tha rest.
She sho'd it with "X's" an' "O's",
aul ovar evry test.
She maid me a speshal hat.
On it, she rote my naim.
Aultho she mispeled "DUNCAN",
  I wor it jest tha saim.

She let my parants noe,
she wuz prowed as cud be.
She sed, at my graduwashun,
"Thair wuz nun lik me. 
So this is my advise,
to tha kidz of this nashun.
"Y'all shud sta in skule, 
an' git a gud edjukashun.
