RING-NECKED DOVES
I have a male-female-female breeding trio.  This is my Ring-neck cock with the the first squab they raised to adulthood, an albino male, hatched in March 2003.  This albino was at Darlene's Choice in Sheperdsville, but I think she decided to keep it as a pet.The previous 2 chicks who died before the parents learned how long to take care of a nest were normal color.  In June 2003, 2 of 4 eggs hatched, both were raised successfully and sold at Darlene's Choice.  1 was albino, the other normal.  As of December 22, 2003, 1 egg has hatched but it's too early to tell what color it will be.  2 other eggs were laid a bit later.  I'm waiting for a fourth egg to show up.  I haven't separated the hens because they seem to do a good job raising squabs together so I don't know who lays albinos (although with lovebirds, it's the male who's split if the parents are normal colored and have a lutino kid and the lutino from such a pair is always female)or who laid first and who still owes me another egg.  I'd like to do more research and find out if doves have the same pattern of sex-linked coloring.  I'll do that in the future though.  Right now, I'm preparing to move and would like to move as few cages of birds as possible.
