An enjoyable course setting up spreadsheets in MS-Execl to help you work out household finances. You will be using basic formula for adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
The course will be specifically designed for students who are completely new to the computer, and will be led by a tutor with much experience in helping new and nervous students.
The course contents will be approximately as follows:
week 1 - Centre & Course introductions - Creating the Spreadsheet, including entering the data and formula, saving and printing.
week 2 - Edit the Spreadsheet, including adding additional columns and rows, with additional data.
week 3 - Using the Spreadsheet display features to alter the display, including aligning text & figures, and changing the format of numerical data to include currency symbols and increasing/decreasing the number of decimal places displayed.
week 4 - This week will be used for in one of three ways, depending on student capability and interest; either:
extra time to complete the learning in weeks 1, 2 and 3
additional practice to consolidate the learning in weeks 1, 2 and 3
moving on to creating a simple database (this may be delayed till week 5)
week 5 - Moving on to creating a simple database
