Angelfish is the band fronted by Shirley Manson before she became the singer for Garbage.
Originally formed from the remnants of the band "Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie," Angelfish released one LP and another couple of EPs, but did not have a great deal of success, unfortunately. They had a spot on MTV 120 minutes for a while, as I recall, but then disappeared when Manson joined with Butch Vig to create Garbage.
Angelfish is far superior to Garbage if you prefer power chords and energetic riffs over the electronic dance mixes that Garbage has been putting out recently.
While in Angelfish, Manson, it seems, was a great deal more creative, both in her songwriting and in her vocals. Her singing on this album ranges from the low whispering voice which is heard in Garbage to more melodic, higher ranges. The guitar work is excellent, and quite creative. There are also no electronic sounds or samples or drum pads or anything like that. Pure rock, pretty much. Some of these songs could have easily been radio hits if this band had been as highly promoted as Garbage is......
