On January 22 I left for Phoenix, Arizona and then from there I headed to Showlow, Arizona to ski the mighty sunrise ski resort. It was a giant adventure. Skiing through powder snow up to our knees. It was one of the most exciting adventures ever. Especially since I had only been skiing three times previous to this one. The best thing of all was that when I came back I didn't have a bruised spleen.
John's Arizona Ski Adventure
This is a picture of Bob, Mark, Ken, and Me on top of the mountain. Our elevation at this point was 12,000 ft.
Alot of people have been asking me "Where do you ski in Arizona? Its a desert you can't ski there." But the truth is we were on the east side of the state where its all mountains. At an elevation of 12,000ft. there is quite a bit of snow.
To the left is a picture of the view. If nothing else the scenic view off the top of the moutain was unbelievable. You could see for miles. The trails that weaved through the snow covered pines were just incredible. If you look at the bottom of the hill you can see me making my way down the alpine slopes.
Here is a picture of Uncle Bob and me on the top of the moutain. I didn't have any good pictures of the powder trails. But alot of the trails we went down were virgin trails. We were the first ones that day to make tracks on them. It was so cool.
On the left is a picture of Ken and I on the slower ski lift. This lift was frustrating to Uncle Mark because he wasn't patient enough for the slow ski lift.
I am very thankful that Ken and Bob invited me onto their alpine adventure. I hope I get invited next year too. This part of the website is dedicated to Uncle Bob and Aunt Kelly for sponsoring me on this trip. They are the best Aunt and Uncle you could ask for.
