Woodcarvings

All of the works pictured below were carved and painted by Jan.  Each required many hours of detailed work to complete.   After the basic shapes are sculpted, the fine details (feathers, fins, etc.) are carved and burned to realistically duplicate the actual bird, fish, or animal being produced. The final step is painting, once again being careful to exactly match the color and distinct marking of the subject .
