This past March, I went to Mexico City to do some training for my job. I spent a day working and another 4 just seeing the city. I got to see quite a bit of the area and learned a lot about the history of the city. About 500 years ago, the Aztecs slaughtered 20,000 of their foes in one long day. They say the blood ran through the trenches of the city. The priests performing the sacrifices finally collapsed in exhaustion. This was done to commemorate the construction of the Templo Mejor, which they believed was the center of the universe. The ruins now lie in downtown Mexico City.
