Unit 3: Computer Systems

 

 

The aim of this unit is to introduce learners to the basic hardware and software components that make up computer systems and for learners to carry out basic installation and configuration. This course focuses on common software applications used in the workplace, including website development, related theory, the general use of computers and using ICT to present information.

 

 

Computer systems is made up of interconnected computers that share a central storage system and various peripheral devices. Such as a printers, scanners, or routers. Each computer connected to the system can operate independently, but has the ability to communicate with other external devices and computers.

 

Computer System:

 

Hard Drive: Without a hard drive, a modern computer cannot function. The hard drive holds the installed programs, data files, operating system files and archives found on a computer.
