| Better known to sailors as guppies, Vetri are a strange race of amphibious people found all over the coastal cities of Aldreia. They are humanoids with pale green skin, and no hair. They have webbed hands and feet as well as small fins on their arms, legs and back. They have enormous gold or silver eyes with large pupils. Their necks are very thick with prominent brightly colored gills, the colors of gills widely vary, from sea green, to an obnoxious fuchsia, and males claim that the brighter the gills, the more likely you are to find a mate, since brighter colored gills indicate health and youth, females disavow this. They tattoo their skin with the marks of their tribes, usually fantastical patterns of dots. They usually are scantily clad, a loincloth at best, and only when visiting human land settlements do they bother with it, as in more �advanced� ports, they have a tendency to offend humans with total nudity despite the fact that their genitalia are concealed until the time of mating, at sea nudity is the norm. The only clothing they enjoy wearing are the elaborate belt or tool pouches they make to carry their belongings. Usually shark or ray skin they are usually covered with elaborate embroidery, fringe, bead work and bits of metal and other things. They can be belt pouches, satchels that hang from the should or a back pack any form of pack or pouch really, but belt pouch is preferred. Vetri are the quick witted, ever joking sea folk with a passion for rice balls, and a love of shiny things. Sailors curse them, children love them and housewives loathe them. Ever ready with a quip and foolish in their pursuit of pranks, Vetri are possibly the silliest race to grace the sea, they steal like ravens, anything that catches their eye with a sparkle and a gleam, and quick fingers then poof it�s gone. Their underwater homes are full of trinkets, both of their make and others. The largest sorrow to the Vetri is that evil humans prize their skin, it�s water proof nature, beautiful color and the fact that it does not rot as quickly as shark or ray skin makes it quite a prize to some. Racial Abilities Aquatic subtype +2 Dex, -2 Str quick and agile, Vetri are not stand up fighters. Medium size Land Speed 20ft Their aquatic anatomy, mainly their large feet makes it difficult for them to get along on land. Swim speed 40ft A Vetri has a swim speed of 40ft, they have a +8 to swim checks to avoid a hazard because of it, and can take 10 on any swim check, regardless of being rushed, endangered, etc. Amphibious breathing Vetri have gills on their throats that allow them to breath underwater, but they can also survive out of water for 1 hr per point of constitution, after that see suffocation. However after spending time in the air they must return to water for a number of hours equal to the ones spent in the air, in order to recharge their gills. Lowlight Vision Vetri can see twice as far as a human in lowlight conditions. +2 racial bonus to open lock and sleight of hand checks Natural thieves, all Vetri are skilled at the arts of opening locks and picking pockets. Speak with fishes 1/day a Vetri can speak with any aquatic animal, such as a shark, dolphin, salmon, ray etc. This functions like the speak with animals except it only works on aquatic animals it lasts for 1 minute.
