| Vaygor's Blade | ||
| The Great Aelthiurian Emperor, Vaygor the Half-Ogre, had claimed the throne of Aelthiur against the overall will of the public. Already, disputes began to resound, and Vaygor became uneasy, unsure as how to keep in power. Vaygor, however, was favored by the Gods of Strife, and was sent a vision to create a blade, a longsword in his hands, using the flames of the Relinak Volcano. This he obediantly did, all by his own hand. For several months, he spent his time beating away at his personal forge deep within the mountain, his empire in turmoil, his throne already taken by another. When Vaygor completed his blade, the volcano errupted, turning his skin dark and scarred. The gods blessed him with a fraction of their power, turning him into a powerful mortal being, on par with the demigods. He returned to Aelthiur and reclaimed his throne, using his power to unite the empire and build discipline. He created a great empire, and soon began to expand it. Over several years, he conquered mass amounts of Colabore, with fire and earth in one hand, his blade in the other. Peoples of all races bowed before him. However, the great Alliance was formed, and posed a great front to Aelthiur's overwhelming armies. However, all they accomplished was holding him off. It was, in fact, the Vynars, a peaceful race that had never really been involved in wars, that took arms against this Empire. Hateful of their ogre brethren and the Aelthiur empire that repeatedly attacked their small kingdom, they all hefted their blades and fought back. It was this small army of outraged vynarian artisans that fought through the war to finally strike down Vaygor. It is said that when he died, a the earth swallowed him up, and created a giant grave for him. To this day, the grave site is known as the Volcano of Vaygor. It was very little time before Aelthiur errupted in turmoil, many powerful leaders opting for leadership, as Vaygor, in his ignorrance, had left no appearent heir. With Aelthiur broken, the Alliance broke through and pushed the empire back to it's cold homeland. The blade lay within Vaygor's tomb for over a millenium, when a warrior of Hurikor, a fragment of Aelthiur, recovered it, claiming it as his own and a sign of the Gods of Strife. He conquered his realm, Hurikor, then lead his armies against the rest of Aelthiur conquering them. Eventually, he fell in battle and the blade was passed to his son, who also became Emperor. The blade served him well, until he too fell and was claimed by the current Emperor of Aelthiur, who has taken the blade and has began to wage war on Colabore, all in the name of Aelthiur. |
