| Detesia (DEE-TESS-YEAH) Shimmerglow: Raven Elf City, population 57,480 Raven Elf 58%, Goblins 15%, Humans 14%, Half-Raven Elf 7%, Aedin 6% Government: Her Majesty, Fangli'osa (Fang-lee-oss-a) (CE female raven elf, Cleric 17) The city of Detesia "Shimmerglow" to the rest of the world is a raven elf city of might and dark wonders. The city lays hundreds of meters below the surface of Aldreia. The only way into the city is either through one of the 4 special gates that surround Shimmerglow, or through an 18 mile trek through hostile underground tunnels. Shimmerglow has the oldest mage guild on the planet, "The Tower of the Black Angel" which dates back to the beginning of the Aeon of Soaring Hearts, when magic was raw and powerful. Despite "The Tower's" reputation, Shimmerglow is ruled by the empress, a 17th level cleric of Dyaramis. Fangli'osa rules with an iron fist and despite her chaotic alignment, she demands absolute loyalty to duty. She makes sure her raven elf guards are the best (12th level) performing regular patrols of the city with both wizards (12th) and clerics (8th) backing them up. The Tower of the Black Angel: The Tower stands midnight black but glows around the edges with a vibrant green light. The raven elf wizards and sorcerers play "The Great Game" which uses scrying technology to spy on the world above and influence its people. Given the limited amount of space available in the tower it usually hosts only about 300 wizards and sorcerers at any time. Promotion in the tower happens from playing "The Great Game" and demonstrating the ability to plot, plan, lead, and betray minions and allies to further your goals. Surface adventuring groups are the favorite play things of the raven elf magic users, and it's not uncommon for wizards to make special trips to the surface in order to influence adventurers into attacking a rivals holdings. |
