| Aelthiurian War I | ||
| Athaieus (then known as Hathaius) was located near Le'resh in the large area between Le'resh and the area marked as a halfling nation. They ruled a large portion of this land, but got greedy. Athaieus's ruler, Emperor Argithis, invaded Aelthiur when Aelthiur's legions were weak to the west and were concluding a brief war in the Ragyrinthis area. Athaieus's army smashed through to Daion, but were held there, unable to break siege. On the map of Aelthiur, Athaieus originally owned Tordryon, but conquered Argenn, Hurikor, the Blakkezur's, Norithin, and Crale. However, because they could not invade Daion, when Aelthiur's legions were able to return, they easily repelled the worn armies of Athaieus. Athaieus retreated, but Aelthiur pursued, gaining it's lands back and destroying much of the Athaiean army. Finally, Aelthiur regained up to Argenn and was content, and in addition they had Emperor Argithis as a prisoner. Aelthiur's ruler, King Skehenithai, was content. His son, was not. Prince Xanythar assassinated his father and then framed Emperor Argithis of Athaieus as the murdurer. Argithis was killed, and the people became bloodthirsty. Xanythar became king, and quickly attacked Athaieus. Aelthiur was highly successful, and pushed quickly on, however King Xanythar ran into the same problem Athaieus had had. Aelthiur could not take the capital city of Athaieus, Lhykandros (then known as Lecandis). Empress Tizera, the more peaceful wife of the late Argithis, held the city remarkably well, and many allies of Lhykandros aided in its defense. King Xanythar became infuriated for he could do nothing. Thus, he decided to gain more strength, and to do this he left Lhykandros and invaded many other lands, spreading throughout the central contient, Caerden, and on. He left Lhykandros to be 'protected' by his sister, Sahranna, but she, against his will, began to make peace negotiations with Lhykandros. After two years, Xanythar returned with only a slighter bigger force, most of them unwillingly forced into his service, to Lhykandros. However, when he found that his sister had gone behind his back, he choked her to death in a fit of rage. Then, in blinded fury, attacked Lhykandros. That day, he was wounded to such an extent that his wounds refused to heal, and he died within two days. Empress Tizera declared victory, but did not stop, for Aelthiur did not leave. Instead, Alynus, half-brother of the late Skehenithai took control unwillingly of the Aelthiurian Legions. Alynus had left political life and learned of the world and many sciences, but was also a master of the ways or war. Using his talents, he was able to break through Lhykandros and ransacked the city. Little remained of its once great glory, and the Empress Tizera was slain, some say in her sleep. Alynus, with Lhykandros destroyed, returned to Daion, where he was officially crowned as Emperor, the first Emperor of Aelthiur. He quickly realized he could not control the vast amounts of land that Xanythar had taken control of, however, as many revolts were starting in many parts of the land. He formally returned much of the land back to its previous owners and split up some of the farther parts of Athieus. He did keep Tordryon, as it was rich in natural resources. A small group of wizards, however, did not see the peace as being true. Infuriated by Aelthiur, they cast a complex ritual which is now known as the Aelthiurian Puzzle Curse, which broke up the lands of Aelthiur into many sections by the Cavveindar River. This infuriated many of the peoples of Aelthiur, and they wished to strike back at the world. Emperor Alynus refused, but many of the people grouped together and attacked, quite unsuccessfully. This split the people into many groups, and thus Aelthiur split, though not entirely. While still whole, Aelthiur did not act as one. Emperor Alynus resigned from his position less than a decade later. |
