| Aelthiur was completed covered by glaciers during the Aeon of Black Ice, and this fertilized the soil immensely. With the addition of the Cavveindar River, Aelthiur is an agricultural powerhouse. The East Delta of the Cavveindar is blocked off by the Cavveindar Whirlpool, however the West Delta is easily accessible for ships to pass through and move along the river, allowing the trade of goods along the Cavveindar. The Silverwater Streams also helps with trade, exiting into the western oceans. The Maesellian Sea creates a grand fishing market, and due to Aelthiurs control over more than 90% of the sea, Aelthiur is able to maintain dominance on the fishing in the area. Also, due to their only being to channels that enter the sea, Aelthiur can easily defend its northern border from possible ocean bound attacks. The Northern Aelthiurian Icelands are a great protection from the barbarians of the north, and allow the knights in the Alieth Wastes to easily defend against the barbarians. The Wethren Mountains and Quicksilver Mountains to the south offer great protection, and Aelthiur keeps these mountain ranges well protected. Aezurith, the Stronghold of Gyraethis, the Saranguard Stronghold, and Xaryn Gor all protect the southern mountains against possible attacks. The mountains also provide a huge source of ores, which Aelthiur makes excellent use of. Indeed, due to the Wethren Mountains, the cities of Aelthiur have little trouble being made entirely of stone. The Aelthurian Planes are divided into many distinct regions by the Cavveindar River, and the vast size of the planes make moving through them a long travel no matter what speed an army may move at. Perhaps Aelthiurs only true fault lies in its severe lack of wood, for only the Xigaran Woods in the south and the Norithin Forest in the north has very much wood. Forests are actually fairly rare along the planes, so it takes large amounts of time for wood to reach destinations, making wood much more expensive than in other nations around the world. However, this slight lack of wood does not affect most inhabitants of Aelthiur. |
