Update! #1- Lewis and Lucy (Anderson) Sexton - Lewis and Lucy have been a great mystery in regards to thier dates of deaths. Lewis's tombstone clearly states that he died in 1936. Alot of my family members who were not even born in '36 remember Lewis well. I did alot of digging and came up with Lewis's obit from the July 21, 1951 edition of the Powell Valley news. If my guess is right, thier headstones where put there after Lewis died and somehow the monument company got the dates for Lewis(Louis) and Lucy reversed. |

Update! #2 - 2/09/01- Mary Sexton - Another tombstone gone awry story. Mary(wife of Byrd Sexton) has a headstone that says she died on Feb. 17, 1959. I found her obit in the Feb. 12, 1959 edition of the Powell Valley News which said that she died on Feb. 7. I don't think that they would put her obit in the paper BEFORE she died. |
