The Joy of Living

The measure of time
is not by the years that I live
yet by the deeds that I do
and the joy I give
yet each day as it comes
brings a chance to each one
And to love to the fullest,
leaving nothing undone.
And to hope to brighten the life
or lighten the load
of some weary traveler
lost on life's road.
yet what does it matter
how long as I may live
if as long as I live
that I unselfishly give.
