Dear sir,

I am writing to you as you are the chair of the COPE of the AMS. In fact, most of my complaints are related to the IMU, but on the other hand the IMU has no similar committee and the AMS is the largest and more advanced society of mathematitians in the world, and I am sure that the facts that I relate are relevant for the mathematical community. They are in part related to the 'mathematical research and its presentation' part of the ethical guidelines of the AMS, but you will observe that they go far beyond that area. I attach to this letter an account of the facts (as seen by me). The redaction may be a bit 'obscure', but I hope you will understand that this is due, partially, to the fact that some people had to be protected. Since this facts were part of a document that has had some publicity, I attach the latter also. But only the former (named 'facts.htlm') contains the facts that I submit to your consideration. There you will find a list of my complaints.

Given the nature of the facts related, I would likethe whole case to be considered under the formal procedure.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Jaume Gudayol
