RULES

1) LINEUPS - Each week, owners must submit a lineup consisting of 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 DEF, 1 K, and 1 Coach.  The lineup must be submitted to either Jeremy or myself (hopefully both), preferably by email so we have a written record (I'm sure you don't want to make
long distance calls to Arizona).  Lineups need to be in by kickoff of the first game of the week. If a lineup is turned in late, or not turned in at all, we will simply use the lineup from the previous week.  If you miss the deadline the 1st week of the season, we will simply enter the lineup alphabetically (Hard to believe, but we had to resort to this with Roger).  I will use the date stamp on the email as my basis for determining whether emails come in on time.  If
it says 1:01 EST on a Sunday, it will be considered late....don't cut it close.  ALSO: VERY IMPORTANT---PAY ATTENTION TO THE WEEKS THAT HAVE EARLY GAMES.  I will send out occasional reminders, but not all the time.

Here's my first reminder:

If you'll remember, our season ends in Week 13, and our playoffs end in Week 16, since too many teams sit their starters in Week 17.

2) TRADES - When teams trade players, the rosters need to end up balanced, with 20 spots each, and the correct amount at each position.  Example, if the the Muggers decide to trade 1 QB, 1 RB and 1 TE to the Cheetahs for 1 RB and 1 TE, each team will then need to make the appropriate moves immediately for the trade to take effect.  The Muggers would have to pick up a new QB off the wire, and the Cheetahs would need to drop one.  As with the lineups, trades need to be reported by the first game, or they do not go into effect until the next week.  I generally send out the weekly scores on Tuesday or Wednesday, so if a trade is done after that, it won't be reported until the following newsletter, but will still be valid for that week's lineups.

3) FREE AGENT ACQUISITIONS - Acquisitions are slightly more complicated....First of all, if an owner wants to make an acquisition, they need to submit the claim to either Jeremy or myself (or both).  If no team with a worse record claims the same player within 24 hours (exactly), then the move is successful.  If a team with an equal record claims the player, it reverts to "first come, first serve".

Since there is a 24 hour waiting period, all claims must be in by 24 hours prior to the first game of the week, otherwise that particular player will not be eligible for the current week's lineup.  Also, no claims will be taken until after the completion of the Monday Night Football game.  I usually get a flurry of requests on Tuesday morning, so lateness has yet to be a factor.

Obviously, if the last place team claims the player, it is automatically successful, but they are still subject to the 24 hour deadline.

Until the season starts, no team has a record.  Until then, the waiver wire order will remain the same as the original first round  order (before trades and all).

2002 UPDATE

Every transaction must go through a 24 hour waiting period to be official,
therefore the transaction deadline is 24 hours before the kickoff of the
first game of the week.

Any claims made on players after this deadline do not become official
until 24 hours after the Monday night game.

Example:
- The first game in week 1 kicks off at 8:30 EST on Thursday, 9/5
- The transaction deadline for this week will be 8:30 EST on Wednesday,
9/4
- Any claims made after this dealine do not become official until 24 hours
after the Monday Night game, which would be approximately midnight on
Tuesday, 9/9

Remember.... claims go to the team with the crappiest record.

EXAMPLE:
-The Laguna Heat has a record of 5-2 after week 7
-They want to pick up this hot new QB, Johnny Bravo, so they make a claim
at
9:00am EST on Saturday.
-The deadline for the week is 1pm EST on Sunday
-The lowly NY Muggers are 0-7 and make their claim at 8pm, Saturday night
:)
-Since they made their claim before the 24 hour waiting period has passed,
the Muggers have precedence...
-BUT....since the claim was made with less than 24 hours before the
kickoff on Sunday, the Muggers claims is not valid until 24 hours after
the MNF game is over, and thus he would not be able to start for them in
the Week 8 games.

I hope that's clear
