| As one certainly remembers from a childhood full of material possessions, a birthday was just another excuse to get toys and presents. One's Birthday was the culmination of days worth of "wanting this toy and that" only to receive exactly what you wanted, what you hoped most for. As years went on and you got older it no longer became just about the toys and gifts, birthdays, and presents for that matter, seemed to have more material weight than that toy you got on your sixth birthday and broke a day later.
A wonderful, wonderful friend of mine gave me the most precious birthday gift I've received in many years for my birthday this past year. A book you've probably heard me talk about many times, especially on here, The Little Blue Dog. After reading the book, and taking Bryan's unique sense of combining humor and reality to heart, I thought how we as a society meet many people throughout life and rarely [except for those very few people] do we ever share those instances that made and shape who we are. Those instances that broke us, that tore our hearts to pieces in grief, in anguish, in fear and anger. Those instances that we struggled, that we fought with all our might to overcome. Times of pain, anger, defeat, unworthiness, and confusion. Those times that give us our integrity, our morality, sense of self-worth, construct and control our mannerisms, our personality, and the way we conduct ourselves in front of others. I made my list....my list of my top Ten....Ten times that had such an influence on my life, thus far, that has shaped me into who I am now [ Yes, of course there will be more to come in life, the list is always altered and changing.] I like to think of it as my "Times That Made Me who I am- Resume". Wouldn't you be surprised if I were to hand you that resume the first time we met?! "Hello, I'm Jeremy and I'm lactose intolerant." Kinda' makes you take a moment and think doesn't it? |
| I have made my resume and I feel comfortable enough to share it with you. You may not even read any of the following writings, but they are here for those of you who feel like you want to get to know more about who I am and what makes me tick. |
