On March 21, 2005 we closed on our new home. I took the week off of work and painted the entire house. Once that was complete, we moved everything in, and started our outdoor projects. It feels so good to be homeowners. This photograph is of our front yard. Our lot is nice and private, and we have a nice fenced in area in the back for Max to play around. Lisa and I are both very satisfied with our purchase. We are both very active in our yard, planting flowers and shrubs and watching the landscape change as the months go by. |

If you notice the date on this photograph, you'll see that we started painting the same day we closed on the house. Our master bedroom is green. Our guest bedroom is blue (see photo). The office is gray. The kitchen is merlot, and our living area is a creme color. The kitchen took me an entire day to paint. The other rooms went rather quickly. Lisa and I are both very satisfied with how the colors turned out. We have also tiled our kitchen and bathrooms in a sandstone color. When we first purchased the home, everything was off-white. Not anymore! |

After the wedding and honeymoon, we returned to our new home and started outdoor projects. The first was to construct a pond. Rather than purchase a pre-formed shell, we brought out the shovel and wheel barrow and dug our own. The pond is around three feet deep at its lowest point. There are three separate levels. Each level creates a separate habitat. Since this photo was taken, we have added water lillies and goldfish. We've also extended our patio by about forty percent and purchased a patio set so we can sit outside and enjoy our creations. |

Lisa will be the first to tell you that she isn't used to "southern gardening." It took me some time, but as you can see, now she enjoys planting flowers around our home. In July, we created a new flower bed which includes daisies and black-eyed susans. We have certainly put the wheel barrow and tools to good use. We have plans to build more flower beds as time goes by. One of my personal experiments has been truly fun to watch. I planted several elephant ear plants, which at the time were very small. Since then, they have become massive. I'll have to remember them again next spring. |
